Always check the tires before hooking up. The spares I check a few times a year. I too carry a 12 compressor.

My spare is under the rear of the unit. Tire valve is on the bottom, where you can get to it without lowering the wheel. Checking the pressure, even though I have to crawl under the trailer, is on my mandatory list, each and every time we take the trailer out. I also carry a portable air tank in the truck box every trip.

I thought I'd air up my tires with my portable tank. After I put 110-120# in the tank there's not enough volume to effectively air up a tire to the suggested 80#. Might work to get a tire from 20# to 50# to limp down the road a few miles. I carry a 12V compressor but have yet to use it.

I installed dual batteries and a 1000w (2000w peak) inverter. I wired this into the TT electrical system for boondocking. I bought a small portable air compressor which will run off the inverter. I can't believe how many times I've used it to adjust tire air pressure. The air compressor is a permanent resident in the back of my TV. I have a mounted spare and an unmounted spare. With the air compressor I can mount a tire if I have to.

Just a suggestion for those who have a spare under the trailer and you have to lower the spare to check the psi. Just lower the spare completely and flip it so the valve stem is pointing down, makes it easier to check the spare psi. I do this on my PU spare and makes it much easier to do.

Are you talking about your TV or your TT?

Reason I ask is I have an empty battery tray in my TV's engine compartment, and have thought about installing a deep cycle battery there hooked up to an inverter specifically to run things like this. Do you NEED 2 batteries to run the compressor? Would 1 battery being charged off the engine's alternator be enough to run a compressor in a pinch?
