Blue Ridge Parkway

Part of our road trip in July was the Blue Ridge parkway, end to end. I've made the trip several times but this was the first time with an RV. It added a lot of pleasure to the trip.
Aside from a little issue with the lift winch the pop up performed beautifully.

That's awesome. Always wanted to do that trip. How long did it take and do you have any CG recommendations?

I highly recommend the trip to anyone. Total distance from Cherokee NC to Front Royal Va, is about 720 miles, including the 110 miles on the Sky Line drive. (same distance if you go the other way). . You need to allow 2 1/2 to 3 days for the drive. Top speed limit is 45, but average is slower.

We stayed at a nice, Primitive, (no hook up's but a nice bath house) campsite near Ashville NC the first night, cost $16.00. There are private and KOA campgrounds just off the parkway all along the way. cost around $35.00. You can find mile marker maps on line that will show attractions, gas, motels, hiking trails and campgrounds. Just google the blue ridge parkway.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles long end to end. Skyline drive is 105 miles long. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Ridge_Parkway It just seems like it is 720 miles long! :-)

Yep........ I seemed to have streached it a little. LOL. Probably added the distance we drove off and back onto the parkway for meals, gas & camp grounds. We drove down to Natural Bridge Va to a KOA one evening, and back again the next morning.

The temp's in July down in the valleys were in the 90's ..... but up on the parkway it was like natural air conditioning.
