Can't get Winegard MP1 to Work

I bought a Winegard MP1 in May for my DirecTv receiver. I still have not been able to get a sattelite signal. I have been on line with Winegard but I'm going in circles with them as they have me doing the same thing over and over again. Anyone else have trouble with the MP1? About to throw it in the trash and chalk it up to experience of some sort.

Are you using a B - band converter? Some direct TV receivers require the converter with the winegard.

What receiver are you using? How are you running the cable, through the outside connection or direct to the receiver?

I haven't maede it to the camper yet. I set it up about 10' from the house mounted dish and ran the coax into my H24 receiver and A/V into a TV on my porch. Using the iPhone compass and an app for elevation (TiltMeter). Should be dead nuts as far as aiming. Coax voltage is between 13.2VDC and 18VDC to power the dish. I briefly got a signal a couple of times but didn't last. Signal strength of 78 was best I got by tweaking the aximuth and elevation. I think it's junk - I was hoping someone could convince me otherwise and offer some words of wisdom to get it working?? I bought it from Camping World - they will check it out for $60.

Winegard hasn't suggested the B-band converter. They know the M/N of my receiver: H24.
