Awning Extention

We have a 13' Awning on our trailer. I haven't noticed people extending awnings 2 or 3 feet just to keep water directed away from entry door. Seems extended fully or retracted fully. Is there any reason why partial extension of awning isn't advisable.

There is no reason why you cannot do this... I have done it many times... BUT you have to make sure if it is raining to have one side lower than the other or you will be sorry...

I don't see where it would help all that much, and the wind could rip it off as well. That's just my thinking.

I think I understand your question. On my awning I have to lower it so it's fully extended and then raise it to the height I want it and then lock it into place. If you just extend your awning a little (which is what it sounds like you are proposing) it wouldn't be high enough and would rub on the door. It also wouldn't lock into place so a gust of wind could damage it. IMHO the awning I have just isn't designed to do that.
