battery stolen
I need help determining wire designation on a 2014 jayco 185rb. The battery was stolen and wires cut. I have a green, black/orange and white wire. Any help would be appreciated.

White = ground (to negative battery terminal)
The green and black/orange go to the + side.
That stinks, I hate thieves!

X2 - anytime you see a "SOLID" WHITE wire on the RV TRAILERS this should be FRAME GROUND.
My trailer wiring used all white wires but the HOT (+12VDC WIRING) included a different color stripe running down the WHITE WIRE.
Got to be careful here hehe...
Once you get hooked up correctly again do like alot of others do and that is take a cell phone camera shot and save the photo to a file or make a copy of it and hang near the battery in a zip lock bag....
You might want to make your battery installation abit harder for the thieves to steal them. You cannot make it 100% safe but maybe if you make it hard to do they will go get your neighbor's camper battery... I'm guessing "Do unto others etc....." doesn't apply here haha...
Always a big concern for us when we have to leave our trailer unattended at the camp grounds.
Here at the house I have motion detector lights come on the trailer when you walk up to it... I also have motion sensor lights for my back yard area that come on as well...
So far so good haha...
Back in the old days I would hook up a old FORD spark coil to the trailer frame that comes on from a motion detector but in todays world I would probably be the one that goes to jail for hurting the thieves...
A whole set of batteries don't come cheap...

That sucks, sorry to hear that.
May I suggest some preventative measures for your new battery.
Attachment 12323
This is the battery setup on my 2013 Eagle. I installed a second battery and have them both padlocked to deter theft.
I got the battery locks here:

Several batteries were stolen from the storage lot I use. Thankfully mine was not one of them but I started removing it after that. I got some wing nuts so I didn't have to get the toolbox out. I also got a spare battery box to hold the battery and set it just inside the TT door. A few extra minutes getting ready for a trip and putting the TT to bed at the end of one.

Thank goodness my batteries are in the lockable front storage compartment. I must say in all my years camping I have never had anything missing. At home however is a different problem!

Hi
I have the two batteries in a plastic box end to end, with a cover over then, that is held down with a bar that we had made up,
then it is lock down with two padlocks to the frame.
So far no stealing the batteries, just stuff inside

I installed the BD battery lock at the beginning of the season. Super easy and very affordable.

$50 shipping to Canada for the BD bracket? Almost cheaper to buy a new battery!

Locked our batteries on our WhiteHawk 30DSQB.....bought 8 foot piece of 1 1/2" X 1/8" aluminum from Home Depot....bent and formed a strap that can be placed around battery box and angle iron batteries sit on and locked....riveted a small hinge in the corner for ease of placing it around battery box.....also, installed cutoff switch to shut off power in case of emergency because you can't get into the batteries very quickly...realize all this is just to keep the not-so-good thief out and like someone said....send him on down to the next person in line.

Although I'm not in Canada, I agree on the price!
I think I could use a couple eyebolts and a piece of chain or the flat aluminum like jtown for a lot less.

To protect my batteries I went to Home Depot and purchased some grade 46 chain and harden padlocks. Note Home Depot sells grade 36, 46, and 76 chain. If someone wants to cut off the chain, they better have a spare battery for their electric saw.

I once lost the battery cutoff key. Had a heck of a time getting a replacement. I put a sting on the next one.

I'm using these for my batteries and propane tanks:

They're not invincible by any means, but it offers a bit of a deterrent.
