Could it work?

Saw this out at the park this weekend. I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy, but this apparatus was attached to a 1/2 ton Ram pickup towing a ~28 ft Starcraft TT.

Thoughts?

Maybe, but my skeptical cynical nature says probably not much help. It would be in my way too much anyways....

X3 Just something else to scrape bugs off of. There are lots of threads on the uselessness! Of those devices. It adds weight and gets in the way. It also takes up storage room when off the tv.

Thumbs down Could it work?

X4- My friend tried one of these with a 3/4 ton and a 33'er. Said it didn't do a thing for mileage and was PIA. Don't waste money or time making one.

Transfers some of the drag from the trailer to the truck but the total drag is still the same. I can't see any net benefit.

Just put your money in the fuel tank and you will get the most bang for the buck.

A friend had bought something similar for his F150...it was on the roof of the truck... he said it created more weird driving feeling than anything...

He got rid of it and bought himself a box cabin and he said it improved the mileage a little (less turbulence in the box)

Wings on the roofs of dually pickups got really popular about 25-30 years ago. I don't see them any more, so I assume they did no good.

Yea, they had winds like this on cars back in the day. The last one was called a "Superbird!"

I tried one of those big deflectors on my TV years ago and would check my mileage both with and without. There was no discernable difference - just something else to have to mess with and store.
