Hi my name is Beverly I'm so new to this site and to a motor home . We just bought a 2006 escapade jayco class C. People are telling me I need to get an extended warranty . What are some good extended warranty company's that you all have used before and are satisfied with. Any advice is good advice for me . Thanks.

I agree. Don't waste your money.

Extended warranties are a gamble. You bet you WILL have a problem. The warranty company is betting you WON'T. Guess who has done the statistics and has the favored odds?

Set the money aside you would have paid for the warranty and use it for a repair if needed.

Besides, these extended warranties are cloaked in fine print (see my signature) that will contain many ways for the warranty company to deny claims. I have seen some that would require documented proof that ALL manufacturer recommended maintenance has been accomplished by authorized service centers. Since you are talking about a 2006 I'll bet you have no such documentation.

Keep your money.

Even if you have a claim, they probably won't pay for all of it to be fixed and give you a hard time about it. Don't waste your money.

I also agree. Keep your money but adhere to setting that money aside for any repairs.

I bought a 2005 Grayhawk and fell into the same trap. I did get the warranty, and I got it at a great price, but I am still kicking myself for doing it.

So far, I had 1 repair that cost $800. Even with a zero deductible policy, I still had to pay $300 out-of pocket. The policy has a maximum labor rate and I had to pay the tax. So even though it completely bought the component, I had to chip in for labor and tax. Not worth it at all.

Furthermore, I find that, even with a zero deductible policy, I am doing most of the minor repairs myself just to avoid the hassles of driving to the dealer and waiting weeks for it.

I wouldn't be so negative about extended warranties. I got a new radiator, no if ands or buts, from Route 66 and a friend just got a new engine from Good Sam to the tune of $11,000 with no arguments, There are numerous reputable companies and they do what they say they will do,

I think I would consider a warranty on a motor home because there are many more very expensive components to go wrong. However, on a trailer, no thanks.
