Towing 184BH with 2010 Ford Escape
I drove 50 miles today to pick up my first trailer, very excited! [emoji2]
I was a bit nervous about towing for the first time but it wasn't bad at all.
I will need to add an extended mirror I think for safety but the Escape handled the drive fine.
Not a speed demon but most places around here are 55 mph anyways.
Can't wait to use it for some camping. ...

We love our 184bh also. Bought a new 14 at the beginning of this season and no complaints at all. Wish you good luck as well

I have a class 3 receiver, wdh and sway bar. Wind resistance seems to be a bigger issue than weight.

just watch your temps, even though it doesn't weigh much its still a lot for an escape. Make sure you have a trans cooler

Congratulations! and welcome to The Forum! I pulled an 18' ultra-lite TT with a Mazda Tribute for a couple of years. You're not going to win the Daytona 500 with that combo, but it's certainly doable. Good luck and Happy Camping!

I tow a 165BH with an 09 escape with a V6. Does an OK job. The weight won't be an issue its the wind resistance. 57mph is all I get without gear hunting although in 4th it will to 65mph and a whole Lotta RPM. I was torn on this setup. It will pull it but its maxed out and you will feel every bump in the road. If I planned for close to home trips I would not mess with it but I plan to tow it over a thousand miles this spring several times into the summer. That worried me so I bought a cheap suburban just for these long trips. I used the escape to tow it about 200 miles each way on our last outing and it did a great job. Impressed me a little as some of that was in some serious hills in Virginia. Transmission temp never went above 200 in the middle of summer. You already have an integrated cooler on your vehicle if its 09 or later and it will do the job. However as i was maxing out the truck I bought an aux unit but haven't installed it yet. Heat is your enemy on transmission. Best way to keep it down is not do a lot of gear shifts. Find a happy point and stay there. Me its 57mph @2150 rpm pulling 3050 lbs trailer and gear.

For those towing a 184BH, how is your gas mileage while towing? We are looking to get a 184BH and have a 2014 4Runner. We have a 5000 tow capacity, but know that you can't really approach that. We are curious is the 4Runner can handle it, and are especially curious about how our mileage will vary while towing.
Thanks!
