I have Progressive for my new Grayhawk and had it with my Airstream. Happy with service and price...

We have Erie insurance on house vehicles and trailer. Trailer is less than $200 a year.

I just spoke with my insurance agent (Farmers). He told me my trailer insurance was an add on to my vehicle, and that it was only covered when it's hooked up. He suggested I purchase a separate policy, and it would be through Foremost. When I asked him about that company, he said Farmers bought Foremost about 15 years ago and it was a good company.

Poppy your agent is correct. I have Farmer too with Foremost as a rider. Had two claims on my previous trailer and was very satisfied with the coverage. It is a good company.

I would get a clarification from your agent.

Most Liability is covered by your auto policy if the trailer is under tow but the collision and comprehensive are a separate policy in my area.

Also sometimes your homeowners policy will cover a loss on the trailer if it is parked in your yard.

i just called State Farm today and added our 2015 26BHS. $330 a year, $1000 deductible, full replacement value. the policy basically covers everything under the sun. theft, flood, fire, hail...the whole 9.

i asked about the different options such as covering under homeowners when it's parked at home, and covering under our auto when i'm towing it. in the end i just went ahead and bought the separate policy. $28/month for peace of mind is money well spent in my opinion.

Same here. Trailer coverage was very reasonable with Erie since we already had them as our vehicle insurer.

Ouch... $600 a year for a trailer? I just got a full coverage quote for my 2015 29QBS for $170 a year from Erie. That includes road side service.

Even better, since we have our home and vehicles through Erie, adding the trailer reduced our overall payments by MORE than the cost of the RV insurance!!!

If your trailer is park at your home., your home Ins covers your TT. When on the road your TT Ins takes over. I was told that by Farmers Ins.

In your driveway, if a passerby trip over the tongue and hurts himself, or if someone breaks in and steals a portable TV, your homeowner's insurance might cover the liability or theft, if you don't have TT insurance. But if the trailer burns to the ground, you wouldn't be covered.

If you DO have TT insurance, the issues noted above would go directly to the TT insurance.

Be careful and read what your coverage says. My insurance on my truck covers me if my trailer causes damage to someone or something else... but it doesn't cover the cost to repair or replace my trailer. In order to cover damage to my trailer, I have to have a separate policy.

Another thing to consider is, although unlikely, if your trailer should become detached from your tv while traveling down the highway. If the trailer has no coverage and hits another vehicle and possibly injures someone or worse, who pays ? I have seperate coverage even on the small cargo trailer we tow with our Gold Wing motorcycle. I am a "belt and suspenders" kind of guy !

Checking out insurance for new 20MRB. Have quotes from Foremost, Progressive, waiting on Geico. Good Sam appears to be 1/2 the price for similar (or better) coverage. Am I missing something?

This thread interested me because we have ordered our first trailer ever, and I value good insurance for peace of mind. Called our insurer of 40+ years (USAA) and learned they have excellent coverage at very reasonable rates for us here in rural Minnesota. I hate shopping for insurance, so this was particularly nice for me to hear. Thank you for posting this thread.

I just got a quote yesterday from GEICO for additing insurance for my new Jacyo 23RB from my auto insurance company and it will cost me $34.57/month ($414.84)...and that's using it for work related purposes (240 days out of the year, 15000+ miles). The only deduction was for the addition of home-style burglar alarm/monitoring. Also should note, my auto insurance is MUCH higher in Montana than it was in Wisconsin for some reason.

Bodily Injury Liability $100,000 per person/$300,000 per occurrence
Medical Payments $10,000 per occurrence
Property Damage Liability $50,000 per occurrence
Uninsured Motorist & Underinsured Motorist $100,000 per person/$300,000 per occurrence
Comprehensive $1,000 deductible
Collision $1,000 deductible
Emergency Road Service
Rental Reimbursement
$15000 additional rider for damage to items carried within the travel trailer
