Hellwig technician recommended helper sprimgs should be set at 3” minimum and i noticed a difference when i cranked mine down to 2” which is what the tech told me when i told him i tow 5k. But it does add to the stability when empty and is a major thing everyone should do.

The Hellwig documentation specifies to torque the nuts to a certain value (can't remember which) rather than a distance to the factory springs.

Is this no longer recommended?

Well i actually called and waitied for technical assistance to call me back, when i received my call back from Hellwig the tech advised me that the distance from the helper spring saddle to be adjusted to 3” from top of factory spring pack at minimum adjustment and if loaded and towing to maximum adjustment of 2” between saddle and spring pack. Just saying i called and waiting to talk to a tech, i have also spoke to others that were advised the same? That is what i did and my ride was hugely improved especially when towing a trailer.

This post goes into detailed information on how to correctly adjust and measure this problem. I followed these suggestions and found it made a very nice improvement in the ride and handling of my 2020 26XD.

I just looked at a Greyhawk that had all four of them adjusted differently - ranging from 3" to 6".

Sounds like that needs to be addressed.

Are these springs an add-on? I'm not seeing them on my 2018 Precept 31UL and interested if they will help?

For my 2019 Greyhawk they were part of the feature that came with the vehicle new.
Others have added them ....

Yea indeed and you should notice a difference in the ride once adjusted.

If the vehicle is a few years old those lock nuts are very tight. If for some reason you snap that u bolt or lock nut trying to loosen it the adjustment nut look out!! that helper is under some serious pressure and turn your world upside down. and second of all you probably wont be able to get the helper down to recompress it back with U bolt. You want about 2.5 inches of height. I was going to tackle it but decided I'll have a spring shop do it at some point

My 2018 Greyhawk 31fs is adjusted to 4 inches per Helwig factory specs for towing 5,000 lbs. I called the factory in October 2018 and was given this measurement by the Service Mgr. and he sent me the installation instructions that confirmed what he said. We have over 20,000 miles which includes 2 trips to Canada from Florida plus many trips to Tennessee and Kentucky towing 5,000 lbs on my car hauler trailer with NO troubles from the Helwig springs…..
