Confirm my understanding of sway bar use

I always search for previous answers to questions I have, because I know it's boring for all of you long-timers out there to read the same questions over and over from newbies like me... so I searched and could not find definitive confirmation to my understanding of sway bar usage. My used Jayflight G2 29bhs came with a Reese WDH with the single "friction type" sway bar. I was told that the sway bar could only be used for "straight line" driving. After a little research, it seems what that really means is normal driving which would NOT include any extremely sharp turns, but average turns are OK. Is this correct? Normal driving, making left and right turns on subdivision streets for example is OK??? It is obvious that the sway bar cannot be attached during the really tight turning (forward or reverse) involved in jockeying the TT into or out of parking spaces.

I'd appreciate confirmation from some of you experienced folks. I appreciate your knowledge, and thanks in advance. Steve

Your statements are correct...., wide generous turns where possible are best.

If i am trying to get in a real tight spot i disconnect it. I have not found any normal driving situation that i needed to remove it. Hope this helps.

Correct, we keep our friction sway bar attached but loose. Right before we hit the main roads the DH jumps out and cranks down the friction bar. Once we get close to the campground she jumps back out and releases the tension. Only take about 15 second.

I remove ours when we have to back into a tight spot. I also remove the WD bars at the same time.

Agree with above. I generally tightened it up on highway more, and removed when in campground or needing to do really tight turns. On my new trailer I got a new equalizer hitch with weight distribution AND sway control that does not need removed during tighter turns: http://councilhitch.com/hitch-access...-sway-control/

Only used it once but I like it so far.
