Propane tank connection on 184BH

Anybody change the way the propane tank bolts to the trailer? I have found the 2 small nuts and bolts hard to get undone for refills. Had to get them undone on my last trip and lost them in the process. Thank goodness for ratchet straps.

Also interested to know if anybody has done a dual tank setup.

Do your tanks bolt to the trailer using two holes in the bottom ring of the tank?

I welded up some T-bolts using 1/4-20 all thread and a piece of 1/4" square stock. Put a wing nut on the outside and you'll be in business...no tools required but you can still lose them if you're careless.

I'd be interested to see what you come up with, since I've got a 2nd 20lb spare tank I take with me it'd be nice to get it out easily. If there's some sort of bolt on replacement bracket for two tanks and a switcher valve it might be best to go that way.

don't need to get a new valve unless you want to spend the money. When one tank runs out switch it.

Is that a straight bolt-on replacement? Looks perfect!

don't believe there is any mounting hardware as there would be many different ways to attach it to your frame but you could pick that stuff up any wheres once you figured out the best way to mount

I bought a 2 bottle rack for my 184BH. I just bought 2 U bolts and was able to bolt it right to the A frame. It fit perfectly where the original mount is

Snapped a few pictures this morning.

2 20# tanks. I have a cable and padlock run through the frame and cylinder tops so they don't find a new home.

Underside, you can see the original L bar mount. It sits a bit forward.

I just fit the U bolts in the slots and moved the base where it would fit without having to drill new holes.

That is the silliest set-up for sure. I find the large wing nut on the top of the 2 bottle mount much more convenient!

We do all our cooking outside on our Coleman so I just pull the 1 bottle not hooked to the trailer off or use a folding table within hose length of the bottle. It's a lot better than having the 2nd bottle rolling around loose in the back of the truck.

oobedoob Thanks for the pictures. That is a much better system and it looks like it would solve 2 problems.... 1) small nuts and bolts 2) 2nd tank.

Thanks for sharing, I will have to make a trip over to the parts store and see what they have in stock.
