Added Handrail for Bedroom Stairs

As we get older we need every little bit of help we can get.

I added a handrail for the stairs going up to the bedroom.

Sure is nice to have something to hold onto those days when we have overdone it!!!

Another example of the great craftsmen our JOF members are. Very nice and definately will be helpful having a little stability while climbing those stairs.

Looks great. I'm surprised Jayco doesn't already install these. The one thing I like about our Jayco are the cabinets. They seem so much better than other trailers I've looked at.

I was going to put those airplane floor lights in the RV to guide me back to the bedroom after a long evening but DW shot that idea down.

Great craftsmanship. One question, How did you attach it to the wall? I can't see it very clearly.

That is a mod that I need badly.

Do you mean overdone it, or do you mean overdone it?

Either way, nice job!

That's very nice looking work Rob. But I reject your use of the "O" word. I prefer "accentuated maturity".

I made if from a 1" x 2" x 32" piece of Oak and the spacers are cut from a piece of 2" x 2" Oak.

I used black #10 Cabinet screws through the handrail and four blocks to attach it to the wall, used a stud finder to get two of the four cabinet screws to anchor into the wall studs.

It is mountied quite solid to the wall.

Sure comes has been nice.

Question How did you attach that?

I too would like to know how you attached the rail. We just traded for a brand new Pinnacle 36KPTS. We requested a handrail be installed as a part of the trade. The dealer installed a small nice looking handrail on the outside wall. Problem was they just shot a couple of drywall screws into the wall. You already know how long that lasted. (First time my 84 yr old Mom went down the stairs). Took it back to the dealer to be done better, they moved the thing to the opposite wall and screwed it in vertically behind the coat closet door and put a couple of pieces of matching wallpaper tape over the holes. We are needless to say not very happy. BUT since I will most likely end up doing this myself any information will be very welcome.

Yes the installation on that handrail looks professional , probably the reason the factory did not install was not enough stairs or not high enough up off the ground or some safety code they used for the justification

WoW, now that's a job to be proud of for sure. Wish I had someone like you to take me under their wing and teach me the right way to do these things.

Hey Rob,
I have my rail ready to stain & assemble. Do you remember what stain color you used? Your picture looks like it matched very well.
Thanks for the help!
