Boondocking in the winter?

Have any of you done this? What do I need to be aware of? How low of a temp should I be ok attempting this at?

What kind of camper are you going to be in........what kind of heat will you have available and most importantly, what kind of thermal long johns do you have? It all depends on the equipment and habitat....

2015 Jay Flight 23 mbh with the thermal package, right now just the furnace that it came with but are looking at a Mr. Heater Buddy, and not too bad thermals. We have recently moved to Idaho from Montana. The heat here is too much .

I've lived in my 26BH (no thermal package) through some cold weather. Nights got down into the upper 20's (Fahrenheit), days around 50. The water pipes didn't freeze (left the cabinet doors open), and it didn't get cold enough to freeze the fresh water tank.

Last winter I started using a Mr Heater Big Buddy. It is really efficient with propane and there's no draw on the rv batteries. I always left a window by the bed cracked open, and the bath exhaust vent open a little too. That would keep a small flow of fresh air passing through the tt, which also cuts down on condensation.

Depending on the RV some have enclosed underbellies and some of those have a heat vent going to them to help keep the bottom warm they can be used to the lot 20's but since you are using a Mr Buddy it will not heat the underside... so the coldest I would use the RV would be if the overnight low did not go below 28 and the daytime highs were above freezing.

We haven't even bought the Mr Buddy--I'll keep it in mind that it should only be used in "warmer" cold temps and use the furnace in "colder" cold temps. The underbelly is enclosed and I think there is a vent pointed down there. (I'll be checking that today.)

We're new to all this and hadn't thought of much of it. Thanks for the comments.

Be careful with the Mr. buddy heater. Almost killed us. We placed a carbon monixed detector in ours...it went off at 2:am. We were all druggy etc, If had not had it we would be dead.
Leave some venelation.
