Who double tows to Fl and back?

This is not to discuss legality, warranty issues or start a "major discussion".

Since we are switiching to a FW just curious how many other FW owners pull something on their way to and from Florida. Boat, jet-ski, Atv or golf cart.

Thanks

I take it with no problem? There is so much conflicting info that is the reason for my question.

Grumpy, have lived in Florida 44 years. The overall length of the trailer and tow vehicle cannot exceed 65'. "triple" towing (TV and two trailers) is not allowed. That said, I have seen plenty of 'triples' as Florida calls them plying various Interstates.........and have never seen the cops bother anyone. But, I guess depending on the needs of the State coffers, is no guarantee they wouldn't.

That's what I keep hearing and some have said it is based on your home state's regs(reciprocity). With that said a trailer sales in FL told me today that if it's with a FW it is legal. GA is just as confusing and I even wrote the Field Commander for the GSP and never even got an answer back.

So it looks like we are going to "go for it" wish me luck..

The regs are real specific. Max allowable RV trailer length is 40', combined overall length of tow vehicle/trailer combo cannot exceed 65 ft. No triple towing as previously mentioned, and passengers are allowed to ride in truck bed campers and motorhomes only, not in a trailer.

Like I've said, I have seen triples going down the road, have never seen one stopped by the FHP. May not be a big enforcement issue to them, who knows. Do be aware though, the 'DOT Cops' were merged with the Highway Patrol 2 years ago and most are driving the standard issue black/tan FHP patrol unit colors, not the blue and whites. Safe travels on your trip, see if I can order up some slightly cooler and a helluva lot less humid weather for you.

Not answering the op's question, but a good link to states towing laws. I don't think they are enforced as such but here they are> http://www.rvsafely.com/rvroadlaws.htm

Driver beware.

My guess is that they don't generally enforce the restrictions on RVers. They are more concerned with commercial vehicles being overweight / unsafe.

That being said, it will be a huge problem for you if you are in violation of the state law (regardless of where your vehicle is registered or where you are from) and you have an accident. God forbid someone is injured or killed in the accident and you are towing in violation of the state regs.

Just my 2 cents.

Safe travels.
