We do. But in the interest of safety you should cut it off when fueling.

It is the primary intent of the ability to run on propane. You do not want your food getting warm while traveling. The only alternative would be running your generator. That would not be practical.

Yes, use the propane while traveling.

I always do and agree that is the way they were designed, however some folks are concerned about the open flame when they refuel and correctly point out that, if you don't open the doors, you can travel all day with out the refrigerator working and the food will stay cold.

This is an "agree to disagree" issue.

Done it both on and off although driving with a flame behind me does make me a little nervous.
I have turned the ref off and drove for eight hours. Was still cold when I turned it back on.

What little experience I have so far has proven running on LP is definitely cools the unit better. The freezer seems to stay frozen and will range from -15F to 25F depending on how long it is off or swapping between modes. The fridge however ranges the greatest, sometimes approaching 70F. Running on LP keeps the fridge cooler in my little experience with it. I try to run it on LP most the time, it uses very little and probably the only thing we use LP wise.

If it matters, we are in Texas and it is hot.

I know it is a topic of debate, but I drive with the LP tank on and the fridghe in LP mode. I do however shutdown all when fueling the coach.

If I am more than 4-5 hours from my destination I run the LP on the fridge. Anything shorter, the fridge will stay cold with no power. Always off when I fuel, and some places require it be off. Like Washington State Ferries.

The food will not likely stay cold when it's 90-100 degrees outside, and you drive for many hours; also, you will likely want to open it to get cold drinks, have lunch, and so on. Concerned folks can turn off the refrigerator when they refuel.

We seldom if ever fill up on the road in tow. We start out with a full tank and stop before fuel is needed.

We always get gas when un hooked. So far we have not traveled far enough to need fuel while connected. I just leave the fridge on auto and don't lose any sleep over it.

I fire mine up before we leave the house, and shut it off when we get back home. Never give it a second thought.

I never run it at all while driving The propane tank is always shut off. No chance of fire that way while underway. Refer stays cool for 8 hours, put a gallon frozen water jug in the refer to help.
