finally got me a new TV
after buying a POS 6.0 ford F350 about a month ago and sending it back after a week of owning it, i finally found something nice that i hope will last
its a 2007 Ram 3500 SRW with a 6.7 cummins
pick it up on friday just in time to take the 5er to the dealer for some work, i cant wait to tow my trailer and boat next summer with it

6.0's need to be worked... If it was not driven hard, they don't last. I'm not sure about the newer Dodges, but hopefully the transmissions are stronger than they used to be. My former BIL had a early 00s cummins and put about 5 transmissions in it before he finally sold it. He now drives a 6.0, its not been problem free ( he doesn't work his diesels hard either ), but he's not had to put a transmission in it...
I have seen 6.0s with well over 400000 miles on them, but only the ones that tow/haul every day.

Your fender wells won't stay that way for long, trust me I know! lol
I am on my stock transmission with close to 150,000 miles on my truck and i haven't bee easy on it between hauling skidsteers, tractors, wood, and campers and it hasn't given me an issue yet. When I first got it I took it straight down to a diesel mechanic who only works on Cummins trucks and had him up grade the valve body and solenoids so he could essentially double the tranny pressure. The truck shifts hard now but he swears it is the best thing you can do for a Cummins transmission and will keep a stock truck trouble free for years. All the local guys have him do this upgrade even to new trucks. My Cummins has pulled great and served me well so I hope you have the same luck as I have!

actually the first thing im doing is taking it to a shop and getting the tranny fluid and filters changed, i will look into the solenoids, i have been reading about that on the cummins forums, but i saw a guy on there with the same trans as me and he has over 500,000 miles on the stock tranny with no major break downs. i already have a bully dog programmer that i bought for the ford im going to put in it, nothing to crazy for a tune tho, and all that damn chrome is the first thing to come off, the fenders looked solid but i guess i will see when it comes off
as for the ford it was an old work truck, it was rusted and in rough shape but ran good when i test drove it, it was pretty much bulletproofed had studs done and what not, the day i took it home the EGR cooler went so i called the dealer and he had it fixed with the sinister diesel one, got it back a week later and the next morning it wouldnt start and i was pissed so i told him i want my old truck back (it was a straight trade) i just felt like 2 things going wrong with it in the 1st week was bad karma so i didnt want to deal with it anymore

That and billet componits makes them a lot better, or so I have heard...
And yes, a good firm/harsh shift is what you want. Todays cars and trucks are all about comfort and that comes at a price...CLUTCH SLIPPAGE. Sure you have smooth, hardly noticable shifts, but you also have clutch wear. Bring the pressures up, make the trans "bang" into gear and it will greatly add to the life of the trans...

I was just trying to defend the 6.0. Left alone in my opinion, their not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Its the guys who never work it and add 500HP tunes to them that have all the problems.

no they are a good motor if used and maintained properly with the proper mods done
just after that fiasco i said im getting a chev or a dodge diesel, i was leaning towards the chev mostly for the allison but they are about 3-5 grand more for a comparable truck, i found this one, it was clean well optioned and even has the bed rails for my 5th wheel hitch and a 7 pin in the bed, so at least it was used like im going to use it
and i have towed with diesel, when i worked at the RV dealer we had 2 2500 Gm gassers that were our beat on lot trucks and then 1 2500 diesel GMC all around the same year and hands down the diesel was night and day better, that was when i said i will not buy anything but diesel as my next truck

You Cant go wrong with that truck,go back and tell them you want the plastic cover for the Jack, on the lower front passenger seat ....Noticed in the pictures its missing ..

This is true expecially with the 90's era. Know two guys that have these and one is on #2 rebuild and other is on #3 with average use/towing. Since you have a pic of that missing jack cover..I agree have them get one for you. You dont want grease etc getting over clothes, shoes etc.
