How many people pull their batteries

I just bought my 297bhs this year so it will be my first winterizing. How many of you guys pull your battery? I heard pulling and putting in your garage, but my garage is just as could as battery box. I work in there from time to time and turn the heat on. Do I still need to pull it?

Thanks

I disconnect my batteries and put them in my basement when I'm done camping for the season.

I put them in the garage connected to a battery tender.

I pull mine, store it on a wooden skid off the concrete floor in basement or garage, and charge it monthly.

x2

I have batteries freeze and split before. I've learned my lesson.

I pull mine and put them in the basement on wood blocks. So far they have held up well with an occassional charge over the winter.

Oh, and a side note: if charging, watch that the charger is doing it properly, and not over charging, this can cause evaporation, and then gases and not just split, but explosion!
This just occurred with a generator battery here at work!!

I remove mine and store it in my basement on a wood plank.

I pull mine and store it in the garage on a cinder block with a couple 2x4s between it and the battery. Plug it into my float charger (when I remember to hook it up) and it's good to go next time I need it. I check the water and top off if needed every third or fourth time I hook it up, or once a month if I haven't used it in a while.

I always pulled the battery from my boat, so it's really just part of my routine when I drop it off in storage. It worked out well for the boat battery and has worked out well for my trailer battery so far.

I used to put RV battery in basement on a board (they drain if only on concrete) but friend had 34 foot motorised sail boat. Bought a trickle charger solar panel for about $25, mounted on lowered mast, extended wire to reach battery. Sat all winter in Canada....battery was fine.

I used to pull them and keep them charged with a battery tender. I've since installed a more advanced charging system, I store my TT next to the garage and leave it plugged in all winter. The new advanced 4-stage charging system keeps them in top condition. I do check the water levels as part of the routine.

batteries don't drain on concrete. That's a myth. Its from the stone age when batteries cases were rubber. Its one of those myths that wont die like "pull the battery cable off with the car running to test your alternator" myth..

This is good to know, however, my basement floor gets very cold, and occassionally floods...I will most likely continue to keep it up higher LOL

I know the draining on concrete thing is a myth, but I too have a problem just putting stuff on the floor, I've never liked doing that...

Texashighsheriff, I pull mine despite our 12 month camping season! But only because I don't get to take advantage as much as I would like. It's not uncommon for my trailer to go 2 months without use unfortunately...

Oh, wow, 12 month camping season, if we just had all the disposable time available to us!
Last year I camped in Northern Ontario for a few days around Thanksgiving (Oct 14, 2013), and that was my lastest in the season session. Needed to move pretty quick winterizing after that!

That's when camping in the great state of Texas is just gettin' good! By that time the weather has usually cooled down some (highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s) and most of the kids are back in school so there's some room at the CGs.
