My father loves Gulf Coast Camping RV Resort in Bonita Spring FL. It's just south of Fort Meyers and below the "tropic line" so you generally have mild weather all winter.

Thank you Mets721 I'll check it out. I've vacationed in Florida many times but never in an RV.

Big Cypress RV close to lake O near Clewiston. Stayed there about 6 years ago in a truck camper. How far south do you want to go and what time of the year. We moved from Florida in June. Lots of great campsites in the Panhandle

Hey Ron,
Good question. We live in upstate NY where the winters suck the life out of you. The plan is to do a month in Jan or Feb to get out of the cold. I hear the further south the better so I'm open to all suggestions.
Thanks.
Terry

There's a KOA near Kennedy Space center that has lots of family oriented things to do. West Palm Beach KOA is close to Lion country safarai. Any of the state parks in the Keys are great, they book up fast. On the gulf close to Ft. Myers KOA has a campgound on Pine Island. Good luck I know you will enjoy Florida in Jan or Feb...

Thanks again Ron!
Are reservations a must? We would like to just head out with nothing planned and see where we end up. On the other hand don't want to be stranded with no place to stay.

Anywhere on the Gulf is beautiful. My suggestion would be to start in the panhandle near Pensacola and stay for a week, then head down closer to Tallahassee area and stay a week, then head down towards Tampa for a week, then Naples.

The water is beautiful and warm year round (especially the further south you get. There is a lot of unique culture and foods in each of those areas.

Spoon059 nailed it about Pensacola. Several campgrounds to choose from. Fort Pickens campground borders the Pensacola Pass and has great fishing from the bank. Gulf Pines campground is right off I-10 in Milton. Navarre Beach campground is very nice. If you decide to stay close to Disney around Orlando, you will probably need reservations. Lots of great places to camp in Florida..Good luck and post lots of pictures. Ron

Also Pensacola is home to the "Blue Angels" and has a wonderful museum on base and it's free to the public. Has wonderful seafood and a historic downtown.

No kids (all grown) so it's just the wife and I. Love the ocean so there is probably what we'll hunt for. Being ex NAVY I'd love to see the Blue Angels again. We are trading in the TT for a motorhome, so darn excited can't sleep!!!!

There are so many great places, you may need to narrow down where you want to go first.

The bride and I stayed a couple of nights at "Doc's RV in Gulf Shores" this fall. It's a nice quiet park that has quite a few permanent residents but the park is nicely maintained. It's not on the water but close. Ask for a gravel or grass covered spot, our spot was a bit sandy.

You had best call ahead and make a plan. The winter visitors tie up a lot of the private campgrounds for months at a time.

Just booked 4 weeks in 4 different campgrounds. One in Orange city, one in Everglades, one by Lake O, and one by Arcadia. Nothing available by the coast. Daytona 500 is February 22 so nothing in that area. Definitely make reservations. We went to the Sun Resorts web site. We are leaving this weekend and returning the middle of March. Good luck !

I would recommend about any of the State Parks in Florida.

Lake Kissimmee State Park outside Lake Wales, Fl on US HWY 60. Cannot say enough about that park. No sewer, but dump stations. Wildlife right through your campsite. Camp Mack Fishing camp is close by where you must charter an air boat ride through the lake. Alligators and Eagles everywhere. Big bass galore and if you catch a weekend with a tournament going on, you will be able to see them. Make sure you go to the weigh in. The time will be posted at the weigh in site. If you are more into full hookups, there is a full service campground right at camp Mack.
Here is the address to Camp Mack. http://campmack.com.

Thanks for all your replies. Met with the Jayco dealer on Sunday. We are VERY close to buying a 2015 29ft. Greyhawk. We should find out today.
