Newbie from Texas
My wife and I have had our Jayco for 1 year now and I just found this forum...unbelievable! We camp every opportunity that we get with our 2 girls (9 & 6). We have the 28BHBE...in hind site, wish we had got the out door kitchen with how often we are outside...but we look at it as a learning experience. Plus, I don't think it would have been safe to tow that heavier model with my wife's SUV at the time. We have since purchased a Ram 2500 Mega Cab Cummins and have no problems with towing any more! Just thought I'd say howdy and I look forward to all your words of wisdom! Any recommended trips to take are much appreciated! Anyone willing to map out our trips is even more appreciated!! Dan

Welcome to the forum Dan. We are in Plano, but our boys (17) go to Frisco ISD. So we are neighbors.

We are most definitely neighbors!! Here's the old hookup with wife's SUV. Don't have any pics yet with the new tow vehicle...all I can say is that it's night and day. We took a short trip to Hickory Creek (which was a nice park) and I almost forgot that the TT was behind us!
Hopefully the picture attached!!
Thanks for all the welcomes!! Dan

Howdy and welcome to the forum.
Some wisdom in this forum and some humor from time to time.
Have you been to Palo Duro Canyon? The DW has been wanting to see that for some time now. We're planing a long trip starting this summer that will put us in Palo Duro Canyon in the fall. That's as close as I'm going to get to map a trip for someone else.

Where is hickory creek? Our favorite place is lake Ray Roberts.
You have a very nice setup, if you need some extra cash you can rent it out to Toyota employees or the Cowboys training staff.

Actually, we have not been to Palo Duro Canyon...yet. We were planning to go this Memorial Day weekend for a short trip. It's about a 4 - 4 1/2 hour drive for us.
The best trip that we've taken thus far is to Top Sail State Park in the panhandle of FL last summer. I highly recommend it! We are going back this summer.
We were kicking around the idea of taking the kids to the Washington DC area this summer, but decided to push that to next year. Most recommendations that I've heard are to stay at Cherry Hill.

In Hickory Creek there is an Army Corp Engineers RV Park on Lake Lewisville. It's really a nice place. Lots of the sites are right on the lake. It's at I-35E and Swisher (I think).

Let folks in JOF know about camping at Palo Duro. BTW, if you what to go a bit further west, there's a popular canyon just north of me in AZ.
Thanks for the heads up about Top Sail. After leaving WDW this fall, we'll be near there on the way back to AZ.
The Cherry Hill name has come up in this forum as a good camping place near DC, but we've never stayed there. 20+ years ago we lived in the DC area. The DW and MIL took the kids on the Metro to see LOTS of things... most of them free - your tax dollars at work. When you do go, I suggest you avoid driving near DC at rush hours and take the Metro into DC; traffic & parking are way beyond awful!

My wife and I lived in DC for 2 years back in 1999 (before children!). She worked in Fairfax and luckily my shift in DC was 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. I rarely had to deal with rush hour traffic! We had a great time living there...like you said our tax dollars at work...so much to do for free!
