Anyone have the outdoor grill option?

I was wondering if anyone has this and uses it. I have mine still in the box sitting in the back storage bay of my 2011 Eagle Superlight. I'm doing a small 2 nighter close to home this weekend just to get used to my trailer and things I might need but forget to take. Will help me better prepare for the longer journies.

So regarding the grill option, does this thing use propane? If so, I see no propane outlet or anything to connect to on the side of the trailer where the grill would sit on it's hinge. Do I need to actually remove one of my tanks off the tongue and bring it over to the grill?

Also, is there any danger having a hot grill sitting on the side of a trailer? I sure wouldn't want to heat warp the fiberglass shell while cooking.

Thanks,
Chris

I had an RVq grill on my old Antigua and have an outside stove on my Jayco. There should be a gas quick connect under the camper near that bracket. In addition, you should have received a rubber hose to connect the grill to the RV gas quick connect line. You should not need to remove a tank.

Thanks Karl. I will look underneath for that quick connect. I'm assuming the hose is in the box with the grill but who knows. Problem is that the grill option I think was added on after leaving the factory so I may not actually even have that quick connect underneath.

Where in Southeast, NY are you by the way?

The prep for outdoor grill is standard (at least on 2011 models) so it should be there. I live in the town of Southeast (10509) which often goes by the village name it contains, Brewster. It's in Putnam county just north of Westchester.

It is a 2011 model so I should be good to go then. Thanks.

Ahh, the town is actually called Southeast. Thought you meant just in southeast, NY which, me being out on Long Island, I am. I suppose you must get that alot. ;-)

I wish I had the grill, but couldn't finagle it into the deal. I have a 2011 and it is set up for the grill though (side rail and quick connect underneath), so I would think that yours is setup as well.

On our '08 the quickconnect is down low on the curb side about a foot from the steps. Your '11 might be different. When we had our hybrid I didn't want to use the grill attatched to the camper so I rigged up a stand. Link, and do the slide show.

I did not opt for the BBQ because I prefer to grill away from the TT. My TT came with the quick disconect propane hook up from the factory.

We have always used a grill (RVQ or simular) with our campers. Our pop-up grills were mounted at a good height for use.
The mounting bar on the HTT is too high for comfortable use (need to stand on a box or something) and I'm almost 6' tall.
Maybe the engineers were thinking about child safety, or they weren't thinking at all.:lightning:
We still use the grill, but I wish it was lower. And NO I'm not going to move the mounting bar down and put more holes in the side.

The quick connect should be under the RV and just a little over from where the bracket is.. it looks like a hydroloic connector with a (usually) yellow plastic plug in it...

We don't have one for our new rig but our old Trail Lite had one and simply put the outside grills were useless to me. Not enough heat and a PITA unpacking, cleaning, etc. Others may have better luck but I love my Graber Grill . Things are just too cool.

I use mine and it works great. I am single so I don't have need for a larger grill.

Well, I found the trailer connection under where the bracket is mounted. However, the darn grill did not come with a hose assembly to connect to the quick disconnect. Go figure.

Now where can I get a quick disconnect hose assembly for this thing? Walmart?

What a bummer. I guess I'm not using this over the weekend. I'll have to bring along my Coleman.

StarGazer, When we picked up our HTT from the dealer, the grill was missing when we got our walk thru. I mentioned it to the salesman because it was listed on our contract.
So what did they try to do? They gave us the grill, but no extension hose to hook it up. I had to complain again, and they went back to the parts department and got the hose.

So, I'm guessing you could pick one up at your dealer.

Gotta check everything!

I must admit though that they did treat us fairly.

I don't have the grill but I have an built-in outdoor stove which uses the same hookup. My hose was in a closet inside the camper. Maybe check all your cabinets?

Ask the dealer for it... it might be somewhere you missed or it is possible that it got forgot in the packaging... mistakes happen

We got the out side grill with our TT but Salesman and shop forman at Dealership both told us it was not a good idea to use it on side of trailer. Said that they could show us a couple of Trailers in shop getting repaired from heat damage. So I still use mine but I dont hang it from trailer got longer hose and set it on table.

A friend with another brand has one and I shudder every time he uses it. It is so close to the siding that I would be afraid to use it. I still need to crawl under and see if I have the disconnect or not. If I do I will get at least a 12' hose so I can attach it to my Webber.

Guys please remember that this is a REGULATED line and will not work with other grills... unless you are able to take the regulator off of them...

Good point Seann. It is kind of hard to get a fire going with two regulators hooked up.
