Whose going winter camping?

WE ARE!! We are planning a six night stay in Breckenridge, CO for spring break skiing in March, but first we will take our new 2015 27.5 BHS out for a night or two to iron out any issues prior to that. Our 5'er came with the "Extreme Weather Package" which Jayco doesn't advertise or publish. Pipes wrapped in heat tape and tanks covered with heat blankets. Does anyone else have this system that can chime in?? I would like to hear your experiences.

Thanks!

My experiences include moving indoors when the outside temps drop into the 60's. On the flip side, I don't complain during the souths July 4th weather patterns. Some folks are hardy, some are not.

We go camping every month but it does not get extremely cold down in Georgia. Was 19 degrees a couple mornings last month when we were out. Water pipes froze in the ground but we had disconnected the water hose anyway. No problems with the unit itself. We go camping every month in spite of the weather. I had not heard of the extreme weather package you spoke of. Maybe someone else will chime in. We do have the red maple leaf on the side which does indicate the Canadian package I do believe.

yes, you can see that Extreme Weather package listed for the Seismic on the website.
http://www.jayco.com/products/toy-ha...s-and-options/

Heat tape on the fresh water line and heat pads for holding tanks (in addition to the heated enclosed underbelly). That would definitely be beneficial for winter camping/ late fall camping.

We went at New Year's to Picacho Peak RV Resort in southern Arizona and it was 25 degrees at night. My DW bought us a heated bed pad and an electric blanket and we were like a melted cheese sandwich; and VERY comfortable in our HTT. We also had some rain and frost (not much snow in AZ at our elevation); but no leaks in our pop outs. Overall, a great experience with our RV Club!!! We will also be camping at Lake Havasu City to see the Winter Blast in February which is a fireworks extravaganza with manufacturers from around the world showing their latest fireworks. Should be a blast and we hope not too cold on the Colorado River.

We're going to the harsh winter conditions of south Texas in about 3 1/2 weeks. Brrr!

We have only gone winter camping in cold weather twice. We went to the Poconos in late November and it never got above freezing. We didn't even attempt to use our water. We bundled up and used the bathhouse which wasn't far away.

The next year we went to NYC in mid December. It got a couple degrees above freezing most days, but it was cold and windy the entire trip. We used the bathhouse at Liberty Marina while we were there... no water again.

I never really intended to use the camper in cold climates during the winter... I bought it so that we could go to FLORIDA in the winter =)! With a toddler and a newborn we don't intend to go camping in below freezing weather for the next couple of years. Too difficult with young ones.

Enjoy skiing!!!

I love the winter camping scene. Getting up at daylight and getting the firepit going and sitting around it with a hot cup of fresh ground bean coffee. The big thrill for me is watching the local wildlife waking up in the same woods...

We live full-time in our 2013 Jayco Premier 321RLTS. We have camped with 16 degree weather. We unhook the water line outside (after filling our fresh water tank), and use our onboard water as needed. We have not have any problems with freezing pipes and have stayed comfy warm inside. Have found that our electric fireplace is wonderful at keeping us warm and not using all our propane. We have the polar package on this unit.

Run/Test everything before each trip.

Picked up my Eagle HT 27.5 BHS Oct. 2013, the furnace did not function. We learned as all campers know - have a back up (electric heaters). Factory kinked furnace gas supply hose - dealer repair. The bunk house is a sauna - Jayco told the dealer to adjust air flow with a wad of insulation. I remover the grate under the refrigerator because the master bedroom was cold - the plenum was not sealed - dealer used aluminum duct tape. you probably got the cream of the crop since you got the extreme package. The two year warranty is great.

We had the same problem with a kinked supply hose but it was to our hot water heater. We are loading up this weekend to leave Monday for a week in Savannah, GA. Beautiful city if you ever get the chance to go there. We will be staying outside Savannah at the KOA in Richmond Hills.

We've camped a few times in below freezing temps. I have the fresh water hose with the heater cord in it...I've used it twice and it works like its designed. Bought it on Amazon.

Winter Camping

We have the water shut off in our campground in Oct. and go up 3-4 times a winter and just carry some drinking water in. North West Wisconsin get kind of cold over the winter months. We were just up a few weeks ago and it took about an hour to go from freezing to comfy inside with the furnace and the fireplace running. Hope you enjoy your winter camping cause we do.

We're headed to Edisto Beach SP this weekend, as long as the street thaws out enough for us to safely get to the main road.
