Generator with solar questions.

I am going to add solar to my trailer, but I know I will still need the generator for some stuff. My question is when I need the generator, do I turn off the solar charger. I am just wondering if it is OK to have the converter charge the batteries at the same time as the solar.? Thanks for any help.

I have 4 panels on my trailer and I never disconnect when hooked to the truck or shore power. as long as it is wired correctly you should be fine.

As far as wiring it right, I would go from the panel to the charge controller to the batteries? Is that the right way?
