Interesting rear bumper solution?

I found this link in another thread, and thought it could warrant its own thread for discussion. Many of us have explored ways to use racks and whatnot on our rear bumpers. We know that the rear bumpers are mostly incapable of holding a load, and some have developed various solutions. As I'm not able to weld, I thought this might be worth looking at as a possible solution for reinforcing the rear bumper:

What do you guys think?

They only offer a 30 day return policy and the warranty only covers manufacturing defects. No warranty that it will replace your bumper if/when it falls off even with this added on.

I know the 2015's have an option for a receiver mounted hitch. I can't imagine the frame is different from 2014 to 2015. The receiver hitch bolts to the frame and supports 300 or 500 lbs.

I would go that route rather than trying to use a bandaid solution.

I think the product will address the stress that is incurred where the bumper is welded to the frame via providing additional support in a critical area. As the product description suggests, "SafetyStruts", IMO doesn't mean that the OEM bumper load limits have changed.

What would interesting to see is if the product will reduce bumper 'flex' during travel (i.e.; bicycle rack, etc.).

I was thinking there might be enough slop in the tolerances to allow some flex anyway. Once the weld is compromised, there's no going back. So what you might have is false confidence. You strap those bad boys on, load up the bumper, the slop allows the welds to pop, then all you have holding the bumper on are those brackets, which is slightly more preferable than dragging the bumper and all your stuff down the highway for untold miles...

I dunno, I guess it's a neat idea in theory, but I'm skeptical of its effectiveness...

It seems to me that if the part that wraps around the outside of the bumper was a bit more stout and bent at a 90 degree angle, so that it could be bolted to the bumper (as well as to the frame), they might have something. I might pay $48 for that

I saw their display and talked to them at the RV show in Hershey a couple of weeks ago. The brackets are 1/4" steel that bolt to the frame, cradling the bumper tightly. It seemed like it would reduce the twisting motion of the bumper with a load on it (of course, we all know that some will overload it beyond any solution).
For $50, it seems like good insurance.
