Yeah, I'm really bummed. I was actually excited too about waking up at O'dark-thirty in the morning to hunt crabs in the dark LOL... someday though

Yes, that's the way it was. I'm not sure which is worse, rationing the quantity sold, or jacking up the price so people "voluntarily" use less of it.

I have a pic somewhere in the bowels of an old trunk of my (currently well groomed conservative mucky muck) big brother with a beard, mustache, and sorta long hair waiting with his old Ford Cortina outside the car near the gas price sign when he was about the 10th car in line for gas in the early 70's gas embargo situation! I have no idea where I got the camera that took that pic, but I didn't have a book to read and the wait to fill his tank seemed to take hours. I really can't remember, but it seems to me that gas went from 35 cents a gallon to about 75cents?
Did I mention it sucked to have to go 55mph when big bro got to do 70mph LOL

Thinking of a quick tri to US next month for 3 weeks.
I tow at 55 to 60 MPH for ease, comfort and fuel. It seems most of you drive faster.
Will I annoy too many people?

In California, vehicles/trucks that tow have a 55mph speed limit state wide day or night. There are some interstates/highways that actually have a 70mph speed limit for those not towing. As long as they can get around you, they probably aren't annoyed and you as a 55-60mph driver will get used to cars/busses zipping around and passing you.
I would say if anyone is annoyed, it may be on a two laned highway. Getting stuck behind you and not being able to pass might irk them.
Will you stay close in Northern Washington? Have a good trip

I think we will try a dash to Arizona (at a snail's pace) for a Vitamin D application.

I don't remember how much it was per gallon but if memory serves me correctly, it was over $1 and that was obscene in those days. Heck, I can still remember filling my 68 VW Bug for around $3... gas was like $0.25 a gallon!

Still no broke or rich members, and no one is buying a new fuel sipping TV.

Reality is what it is I drive 65 as that is what my tires are rated for. With my little 7000lb trailer, I get about 13mpg. Of course my gallons cost a bit more than you gasoline guys do.
Anyway, love camping, won't stop. Gas is just a small part of what is spent to camp, even dry in the forest like I do.
Ok, $7/gallon will give me second thoughts....but for today, I'm good!

3.47 for unlead and 3.85 for diesel in West Texas. They say the refineries are already switching to "winter blend" that should gradually drop prices somewhat. Don't know if that goes for diesel as well.
