Thats impressive! How big is the battery or how many are there. Starting torque of a compressor take significant power. How long can you run the A/C and how hot do summers get where you are. Very cool!

The whole system cost me about $5000.00... but it has paid for itself in 3 years... I now boondock all the time... its rare that I stay at a CG.

Now to answer the other question ...
Solar panels do not run anything... it is your battery bank that does the solar just recharges your battery bank... On a hot sunny day like today... I am getting over 18 amps in so that keeps the batteries topped off... with the A/C running

I don't think you answered the question(s):

This discussion has been in many forums I'm sure. Some with the calculations to back it up. I stick with my statement that running the AC off of batteries with just solar power recharging is impractical.

I went with the Honda EU2000I and EU2000I companion. Very quiet and runs the 15,000 A/C unit just fine. I think I paid around $1900 delivered for the set.

Yamaha 3000 first time today!!!

I bought a new Yamaha Generator 3000i SEB with my new G2 trailer last week. I took it out of the box today and fueled it up and Started it today.

THIS YAMAHA GENERATOR IS AWESOME!!!!!

Me and neighbor cracked up laughing cause it is so **** quite. It really is friggin impressive and that takes a lot for me. I can say hands down it's better and quiter than the Honda. My neighbor has the Honda and when he came over his first word was UNREAL... In the nicest way possible...

The Yamaha comes with the wheel kit installed and they are heavy duty rubber/steel casters. The thing floats on the ground. I can get into the truck with no problem with the use of a small folding ramp I bought. It starts with a key and runs my electric fireplace, A/C, and microwave all at once. It basically hums with no noise. You can watch TV on low and not hear this thing outside...

Me and my neigbors stood over this thing for 30 minutes BSing at normal conversation level. It truly is amazing.,.. the boost technology is the way to go for fuel consumption.

I researched Honda and compared to my neighbors I am so glad I got this generator and went with the Yamaha.

If you can push a broom...Then you can push this generator into your truck with no problem... These wheels eliminate all the weight...It manuvers with ease...

See ya...

I bought my Jayco Jay Feather in August in DFW. The first time we loaded our goods, we melted. I researched over the net for a good reliable generator to run the A/C in the drive way or any other place. I purchased a Champion 4000 w/wheels. I could not be happier. I also air the tires and run the power washer with it. We are about to make our 8th trip. The Jayco has serviced us well. The Only concern is that it is too low and I have had to change my route on the spot to keep from bottoming out.

It will run our 13.5 air conditioner, at least at sea level. I haven't tried in the Sierra's yet. I know some people rejet theirs when heading to higher elevations. It is very quiet. I included a shot of our 23B at Emma Wood SB, you can't camp much closer to the water without getting wet.
I have this same genny, but unfortunately, it won't power the AC in my 2010 JayFlight 26BH.

This is my Yamaha 2800(i)

It's a little bit of overkill, but it can run everything in the camper (including AC) with ease, is still pretty ease to move around, and I use it at home in event of power failure. It is the last item mentioned that caused me to go a little bigger.

It is pretty darn quiet, although not like the smaller Yamahas and Hondas. If I did a lot of boondocking I might consider running two smaller ones in tandem but it just doesn't make sense for us.

I have a Honda 2000 converted to use propane, gasoline, and natural gas (Central Maine Diesel made the conversion kit) and on my previous trailer (a Casita) it started the 13,500 A/C BUT don't have anything else running.

It did bog down a little but once started the A/C ran fine.

Your results and the results with the A/C on the Jayco my differ.

BTW, I converted because I refuse to carry gasoline in other than the tow vehicle OEM tank. Also, I can connect to the natural gas at home in an emergency.

I had my local dealer install a quick disconnect into the propane line on the trailer and I have a quick disconnect on the regulator in the generator. I plan to mount the generator on a tray in the front cargo area. Right now I just tie it down in the tow vehicle.

Regards,
Jim

I bought one of the Canadian Tire Champion 4000W/3000W generators on special at $299. We don't intend on having to use it in a crowded setting, so a bit more noise isn't a problem. It was easy to set up and started with no problem. It has the wheel kit and a huge fuel tank. Where I will use it, only the birds will hear it.

Have a Yamaha 2000 which works great. It was about $100.00 less than the comparable Honda. It does run the air conditioner on my 19 foot Jayflight. I bought the trailer used and I'm not sure of the size of the air conditioner.

I put a car muffler on mine really quiets it down... and a cardboard box over it makes it even better (make sure the box is way larger than the gen)
