Cherrystone Campground, Cape Charles, VA

We just return from a wonderful five day/four night stay at Cherrystone Campground on the Chesapeake Bay. It's about an eight hour drive south on the NJ Turnpike and route 13 through DE, MD and into Virginia.

The campground was clean, well kept and the staff was very helpful and friendly. They have full hook-up (30A and 50A) as well as cabins you can rent if you don't have an RV.

For anyone that enjoys watersports, fishing, crabbing and beautiful coastal scenery Cherrystone is a place you should consider. It's also a short 40 minute drive over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel to Virginia Beach.

What site are you at? We were originally assign #28 but the hook ups were too far and I was also concerned about geetting stuck in the sand. We switched to site #123 which still had a nice and within a short walking distance to the pier.

Unfortunately some folks are ignorant of campsite etiquette.

Camped there as a kid more than 35 years ago, all I remember was tons of rain, but if I am up that way I would go back, sounds like my kind of place

Camped here several years in a row with 2013 being the first year we didn't make it. We've stayed in the Cabins and the trailers and always found the facilities neat and clean, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere very relaxed. Lots to do for both kids and adults alike with numerous organized crafts, several pools (one is adults only), a charter up the street, fishing, golf cart rentals, paddle boats, horseshoes, volleyball, and several early evening events during the week.

It's a fantastic place to stay and will be looking forward to finally making the trip in our own trailer next year.
