Gas Grill Hookup

Like many travel trailers, my new Jay Feather Sport 165 came with an LP hookup for an outside stove, but for the life of me, I cannot find one to purchase anywhere. I contacted Jayco and Coleman, and they had no answers either. If you cannot get an outside stove, why do they even bother providing an outside gas hookup? Grrr!

Is the hook up merely a hose with a treaded fittting and a shelf to rest a camp stove on?

If so check the threads to see if it is like those on the small disposable propane cylinders. If it is, any camp stove (Coleman is by far the most popular) should work.

Depending on what you want to do, you can hook up pretty much any propane appliance. Since the LP hookup is located after the RV regulator, you have to remove the regulator from the grill you are hooking up.

Some of your local propane distributors will modify your grill for you so it will hook up properly for a modest cost if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself.

Good afternoon...we recently purchased a 2010 31.5FBHS Eagle that came with the Sidekick grill, mounting bracket and quick connect hose. I would like to hook up our cast iron burner camp stove to the same quick connect outlet, but I'm wondering if the propane regulator on the camper is set to deliver "low" pressure gas? I've noticed alot of discussion on high vs. low pressure, and that stoves / cookers with high BTU ratings require high pressure to run correctly. I'm assuming I would need to connect the camp stove directly to one of my tanks to get enough gas pressure to run the stove correctly? I'm just trying to find an easier way to use my outdoor stove other than disconnecting / reconnecting one of my bottles everytime we want to use it.......Thanks!

If the unit you want to use has a regulator and the quick connect on the trailer is AFTER the on board regulator (most are), then you can take the regulator off the unit and attach the necessary quick connect fittings to make it work. The smoker grill I wanted to use had the regulator permanently attached on the hose. I took it to a local propane dealer and had him to cut the hose midway between the grill and the regulator. Then he crimped fittings to the ends of the exposed ends of the hose to which I attached my quick connect fittings. He charged me $6 to fix mine. I could have got by with $3 but I had the end of the hose with the regulator on it fixed so that if I ever want to make it a stand alone unit again, all I have to do is reattach the regulator to the grill end. The grill that attaches to the RV is still in the box and I never intend to use it. I smoke ribs and steaks so neither do I want the grease mess that close to the camper or the heat.

Our RV dealer has a parts catalog with anything you could need for camping. They have the stove in the book you are looking for. It attaches to the side of the camper and quick connects to the gas line under the camper. Iv seen it in other catalogs from other dealers as well.
As for the grill, Iv got one and we never use it. It gets tooo hooot and cleanup is a nightmare. You dont dare put it away with out cleaning it or you will get grease EVERYWHERE. I think there was a discussion or thread on here a while back about these grills, and the general consinces was people dont like em.

I have a Camp Chef 2 burner stove that i hook up to the quick disconnect gas line with no regulator. We use it for frying fish and it has a griddle for other cooking uses. We cary a small charcoal grill for burgers and brats. Thats bratworst, not bratty kids. LOL
