Fresh water tank pukes

I did a search on this subject and found some possible answers but not specific to the issue I have.
I have a 2011 Jayflite 22FB.

If I fill my fresh tanks at home and drive to the lake (about 10 mi.) my fresh tank will run dry over the weekend if I don't fill at the campground.
We do not drink tank water nor bathe with it, we use the shower house. We use it just for washing dishes and flushing the pot, I take 2-3 gallon of drinking water or fill jugs directly from the hydrant for drinks.

It pukes it out the overflow as I am driving. I read that it may be siphoning; Is there a way to correct this issue? Longer overflow tubes? Clamp them off?
Install check valves on them?
I am taking a trip up to Minnesota and want to "conserve" my water, we will be staying at one park fro 4 nights. I don't want to unlevel to fill or lump water to fill it.

Below is a solution from one of my postings when this subject was discussed previously on another thread. I doubt if it's siphoning because the overflow opening is simply a hole at the top of one of the sides of the tank.

Thanks for the response!
I saw this in my search. I assume this is a common problem?
Would extanding the overflow hoses, coiling them around themselves accomplish the same thing?

The over flow vent line is also the vent to let air in when using water from the tank. If you plug the line be sure and unplug it before using the pump. You could suck the tank flat.

I had this problem the first time I filled the tank. I thought it was full and that it was coming out the overflow. What was happening is that the tap to empty the tank was not closed off completely and the water started to run out before the tank was even half full. Stupid mistake but it was a brand new trailer and the tap was on the opposite side from the fill side. Won't make tat one again. Did a few trips with a watering can to refill it..

We just used our 2011 Jayco 265RKS the first time and had the same experience. I filled the tank and left home and found out we had lost 1/3 of our water by the time we got to the lake. This was not impressive.

Could it possibly be that one hose is for the overflow and the other is for the tank's drain?

No the tank drain is easily identified by the on off valve about 12 inches forward of the 2 overflow hoses.

Then, I guess the other hose isn't a low-point drain either.

No the low point drain is at the rear of the TT.

OK. I'm out of ideas. I have both a front and rear low-point drain, but my TT is a bit longer than yours judging by the model numbers. Besides, they (the manufacturers) tend to do things differently than they did in 2000. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Water Tank Vents

I had the same thing happen this week on my maiden voyage to the NASCAR track in NH. By the time I got to the track I had lost 1/4 tank according to guage. A friend that was following me said I was loosing water all the way from his house which was about 20 miles. This a 2011 T26Y toyhauler which has two tanks hooked together.

I think that the hoses are too close to the top of the tank.
I may buy about 6 feet of hose, cut it in half and coil it up, zip-tie it up to the frame.
My fold down had the overflow vent through the fill tube, there is a vent hose connected to the fill port to vent expanding air as you fill it.

Hey Big Jim, does you 22FB have the same drains set up I posted in the photos above? I don't lose any water.

Honestly folks, a pair of these will resolve your problem. Just clamp them on the overflow hose after you fill your tank. Then, remove them once you're all set up.

Lisle 23000 Hose Pincher

By the time you buy the materials to engineer and implement the modifications you're describing, you could simply buy something like this which requires no modifications at all- simply attach it to your drain overflow hose.

I have the same hose setup and realized I was losing quite a bit of water. What I did was bought a couple of plastic barbs w/ 1/2" thread on the the other end. Inserted the barb into the tubes held on with hose clamps. Then I screwed 1/2" PVC valve on the threads of the barb. When filling I open the valves. Once full, close the valves, go to the campground and once in place reopen the valves w/ a still full tank of water. Probably a grand total of $6 in parts.

Yes, mine look the same, only I have 2 tank drains.
May go the shut-off route, that JW has. Be easy to open and close.
Like those Lisle clamps may have to get a pair for fuel line for my Mini Bikes!

Common problem

I have a 2010 Jay Flight 23FB with the same problem. When I got to the lake, according to the fresh water gage, I had lost 1/3 of my water.

I called Jayco & they told me I could plug the overflow lines to correct the problem. The guy warned me to check and see if the vent was connected at the fill hole. He said some aren't hooked up. If it's hooked up, you're safe to fill with the two overflows plugged. He said to check, you can plug the overflow tubes & carefully start filling. Use your lips, a flame, feather or something to detect if air is escaping from the vent next to the filler hole. Another suggestion is to look under the sink or wherever to see if a hose is connected at next to the fill hole.

I installed a shutoff in each vent hose & plan to open them when I fill. If I forget to open them, my vent next to fill hole should keep me from damaging my fresh water tank. Hope this helps.

Your setup looks similar to mine. A drain for the fresh tank, 2 overflow hoses, and my other 2 low point drains are on the back, accessed under the rear bunk.(pull up valves)
As for the gauge, my fresh tank never seems to read no more then 2/3 full, even when overflowing. The gauges for all tanks are very unreliable IMO.
