Installing Bike Racks On Jayco X17Z?

Is it possible to put a bumper mounted bike rack on our TT? Here are the two bumper mounted racks I found.

Both of the racks say "Built for continuous welded steel square bumpers at least 4" and no more than 4-1/2" wide. Not for use on aluminum or spot welded bumpers.

I don't think you have a square tube bumper on the X17Z do you? I thought the 17 came with the same thin C-channel bumper as my 23B. Even if you have the square tube bumper, I wouldn't mount anything to it as I have heard too many horror stories of bikes flopping around, ripping the bumper completely off the trailer and leaving it and the bikes in the path of oncoming traffic. Liability issue.

An interesting solution for mounting bikes on a hybrid that I saw recently (don't remember where) is to use a trunk/hatchback bike carrier and mount it on the front hybrid bunk door. Most of them are adjustable for angle and you supposedly can anchor the straps at the top and bottom of the door. I haven't found anybody I know that has that type of rack so I can try it out but it looks like it might be doable. Just a thought!

I had a welder make a 2" receiver tube for the back of my trailer.. its welded to the frame and good for bikes or a small rack....

X2 I was thinking of having the same done. Dont want to shoe horn bikes inside the camper and tear up things.

I have the same trailer and was thinking about the same thing but then I considered the weight. Its a single axel trailer and I think I can only put 400 pounds in the trailer. So I decided to put the bikes on the roof of my Traverse. I think the single axel can only support 3500 pounds.

Let me know what you decide and how it works.
