Thread: Generator Fuel Usage

    Default Generator Fuel Usage

I have a 6kW generator (diesel) in my '07 Seneca. The vehicle is fairly new to us and we haven't used the generator other than starting it up to check it out. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on about how many gallons per hour the generator should use under say a medium load, like the 2 AC units running?

    Thanks,
    Randy

Make sure you run it once a month under full load for at least 30 min. Then shut all loads off and let it "cool down" for 5 min before turning off.. This will help you avoid BIG repair bills.

can anyone tell me how to use ac power when the diesel engine is running? my seneca 37ts shuts down the ac power when I crank the engine but the gen is still running. any help appreciated. Just took delivery friday. Also does anyone know the actual reason the tv's are not supposed to work in overhead and how it can be defeated?

    Thanks,

Cut the purple wire leading to the receptacle that the TV is plugged into. The dealer can't tell you that but I can.

In my 2012 Seneca, I can get power to the tv from the inverter while driving ( I cut the 12 volt power to the receptacle)
But the front DVD unit will not provide a signal while the motor is running. Any solution to this problem?

    Thanks

Thanks for purple wire info. Do you know anything about AGS and the state of the batt disengauge sw when you store your vehicle? In other words, will the AGS sense a low battery voltage and auto-start the generator and charge the house and engine batteries if the AGS is set ot auto and the batt disengauge is off??

    Thanks,

    Dale
