New Jay Flight Swift SLX

Has anyone taken delivery of a new 2011 Jay Flight Swift SLX 145RB? We've ordered one and expect delivery in about 3 weeks. We're just wondering if a member who already has one could share their opinions of this model.

Thank you.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum MrNoyb! We have at least one other member who is either considering the purchase of this or has already bought it (but has yet to pick it up?). Isn't this a new model for Jayco. Don't be surprised if you don't get a lot of feedback yet, but could you come back and let us know how your maiden voyage went and what your experiences with the Swift is? Don't forget pics!

Welcome mrnoyb!

Like Healthi said - the only thing we really know is what we read on Jayco.com. I have seen the Swift 264BH in person, but that is the only one.

Maybe you could educate us a little! What did you like about the Swift compared to the other models and what made you choose that line? I have a feeling it is going to be a very popular line for Jayco.

That model is so new it has only been on Jayco`s website a short while. The 264BH that tafische mentioned has been there somewhat longer. So as the others said feedback will be hard to come by and you may be the first member available to offer us some feedback! That is a cute little trailer though and affordably priced.

This is our first venture into RVing and it's been quite an experience.

I was a business analyst by profession and comfortable with conducting market research. I wasn't exactly ready for the multitude of options available when considering an RV purchase.

We quickly eliminated motor homes, fifth wheels, truck campers or popup's as options for us and focused on travel trailers.

We decided on a 1/2 ton PU towing vehicle and purchased a new Chevy Silverado XCab. Based on the truck equipment we could now look at any TT with a GVW of 8200 lbs or less.

The research and shopping began. As we viewed more and more manufacturers and models it became apparent to us that we should start small and work our way up to a larger travel trailer as we become more comfortable with RVing.

We ended up comparing the Jayco Jay Feather Sport 165, and non slide versions of R-Pod, MPG & Casita.

We decided against the lavatory configurations on the R-Pod, MPG & Casita. The only issue we had with the Jay Feather 165 was the bunk beds.

The history, position in the industry, construction techniques, quality of workmanship & materials and history of customer satisfaction convinced us we should purchase a Jayco.

We were ready to buy a Jay Feather 165 and I checked the Jayco website one last time to look at the unit details when out of nowhere the home page announced the Jay Flight Swift SLX. One look at the the 145 RB floor plan and we were done. The model was so new the local dealer didn't have much information. The standard equipment and option details were actually posted after we worked out a factory order.

About 3 weeks to go for delivery!

My wife and I put a deposit on a Swift SLX 154bh. We'll be picking it up in two weeks. The SLX is very similar to a K-Z Sportsmen Classic, only with better axle and wheels. We almost bought the Sportsmen, but the salesman ruined the deal for us... thankfully. Then we stumbled upon the Jayco! Can't wait!!

We placed our order on 2/17 and the local dealer told us the unit should be received by the end of March (6 weeks). I'll wait until 4/14 (8 weeks) at which point it's all bet's off. No harm, no foul. They didn't do anything wrong. I just can't wait forever. I'll ask for my deposit back and make other arrangements. I'll contact the Indiana RV Connection just down the street from the factory and buy one. When it's ready, I'll go there and pick it up.

Our new Jay Flight Swift SLX 145RB arrived yesterday and we were asked to look over the unit today to insure it was what we expected. The dealership let us check everything at our leisure and we were satisfied with the product. We've scheduled next Tuesday for final delivery.

It was exactly 6 weeks from placing the order to seeing the final product. MFR DATE: 03/11.

lesson learned
If or when we get another RV, we'll go to the dealership closest to the factory to buy. This will reduce the wait time and eliminate the destination charges.

initial impressions
Actually larger than we expected. Overall quality good. We initially found no defects. The unit seemed solid and well built with quality materials. Pretty much as advertised with the notable exception of no 15" radials or E-Z Lube axle.

surpise
Dealership advised that the unit will be delivered with a full tank of propane and a fully charged battery.

It looks good! I really think these units will give pop ups a run for the money. I can't wait to use mine in the rain and not worry about wet bunks or having to fold it and get soaked.

James

I'll post my pics on pickup as well. Looking at Tuesday as well
