Fuses
To all-- The one thing that seems to be missing from all the " what should I have in my tt lists" that I've seen is FUSES. A couple of 15A,20A & most importantly a couple 30A as they are outside,in the weather, on the battery . They are available at all auto parts stores & maybe wally world. Just a thought. Larry

I bought a few multi packs (15,20,30A) packs at wally world to keep in the camper just in case. It was suggested I get some spares by the tech that did the walk though on our camper.

Get the exact ones that are in your converter so you won't be tempted to "fuse up".

Good point Larry! I also keep a set of the speciality fuses that go in my TV to power the brakes and the Aux power. I pinched my tow cable on a trip and blew them both - I was so happy to have a spare set with me. They are not standard issue at most stores, so having spares is critical.

When getting your fuses consider ones that have an indicator that glows when the fuse blows, such as these. They aren't very expensive and will save a lot of hassle when you need to find out which one is the blown one.

Yep, keep spare fuses both in my TV and the TT.
If my memory serves me correctly, I also have a spare 2amp fuse, just don't remember where it goes! I think there may be one on the frig or hot water heater circuit located from the outside panel. I better check the next time I pull my TT out.

Yup, trailer, truck, and Rhino. One blown fuse can cause a lot of grief so I keep several of each size in each place.

I agree with Lady Fitzgerald. I also use these and have been for a couple of years. They work Great and make it alot easier to find a blown fuse. Well worth money you pay for them.

I also carry a spare fuse socket in case the one at the batteries gets damaged.

Hey - me too! Let me tell you - that little socket has given me so much grief. I was fighting a low voltage situation in my camper and then poof - everything went out. I checked the fuse by leaving it in the holder and checking continuity off the top pins - it was good. After searching high and low again, I finally discovered that the socket has corroded, caused the fuse to overheat and warp - loosing contact inside the holder. I had a heck of a time getting it out....I cleaned the connections with a flat blade screwdriver, replaced the fuse and it got me by until I could get a replacement. I now have a nice high quality marine grade waterproof (etc,etc) fuse holder. It better work!

FWIW, here's a tip from the telecom industry;
for connections like that fuse socket, which have exposure to the elements, flood the socket with dielectric grease, then plug in the fuse. The auto industry does this also with spark plug connections, where the plug wire boot connects to the spark plug.

Well, I happen to be camping this week so I checked/confirmed today that the 2amp fuse is on the hot water heater circuit board located from the outside panel.
I can sleep now
