You just getting here and I'm getting the hell out. Way to hot here now. Headed for the Berkshires for 3 months.

We'll be in St Sabastian River State Park through October. It maybe a bit into November if needed to help train the new volunteers.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Navigating and typing on my phone is challenging so I usually check the news and weather and then put my phone down.

However, my wife checks Facebook...
Jayco Jayflight Owners
and
Jayco RV Club
sites quite often so give one of them a try. She is
Terry Duke Allen on Facebook.

Sounds like fun! I had to look up the location. Nice looking area, not far from the ocean. I like the summer temps, but my DW would be complaining.

LOL. You would NOT like 95 degrees with 95 percent humidity everyday for 3 months. NOPE! LOL Did I mention the rain every afternoon?

LOL, I have always loved heat and humidity. Lived in North Carolina as a kid just off the coast. Up until a few years ago 95 with equal humidity was perfect. Now maybe 85+ with equal humidity. I absolutely hate the AC. It is extremely rare that I turn it on. When my DW does, I squeal like an old vacuum tube.

We've been fortunate to have lived many places/climates in the US over the years, but never FL. DW lived in Atlanta for many years before we were married. Now we want to be closer to 'The Mouse' ;-) and MIGHT want to move here rather than continue fulltime RVing. Before we commit to that, we need to see if we can tolerate the summer heat & humidity. So, our volunteer gig over the summer will give us a chance to give FL summers a try. We'll let you know how it goes.

If you live on the coast (or close to it) it's not bad. But if you live in Orlando area or somewhere in the center of the state it sucks! I grew up in S FL...luckily it was a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale, so we had somewhat of a "sea breeze". That was my experience...I and the DW don't miss living down there. Good luck with the home search!

oldmanAZ: Does the park you are in have rv sites for the public or just volunteers?

I know about Sebastian Inlet but not this one.

As far as I know, they have just a couple of RV sites only for volunteers. I'll post what find out later this week.

Give us some detail on your "volunteers" gig with the park. What will you be doing? Sounds interesting.

Covid-19 has changed the 'rules of engagement' virtually everywhere so we're not sure how that will impact our duties and responsibilities. We'll let you know.
You could check 'volunteer.gov' online for opportunities in LOTS of places. What they need the volunteers to do varies.

@norty1: 4 RV sites for volunteers only.

@maxdonport:. We will be opening and closing park entrance gates most days and working in the visitors center (at the desk and cleaning) 2 days a week. We are the only volunteers during the slow, summer season; they usually have more. There are full time park Rangers, too. We'll probably get more details later this week.

Thanks, It sounds like a nice quiet spot and close enough to the busy Sebastian Inlet cg to enjoy a visit. Way to congested over there for me.

It WILL be quiet and a safe place (did I mention FREE!) to continue to hunker down while Covid-19 continues to raise havoc in some places.

Leaving FL

I live south east of Tampa and in the summer it gets so hot that hot water comes out of both taps and the devil goes north. Because of the coronavirus we are only going to southern GA (2 months) so that we can get back home if we get sick in one day. Normally we go further north into the mountains. Even so, we are hoping it will be a few degrees cooler although we will be 2-1/2 miles from the ocean.

If anyone is going by please visit us at the Ft Frederica National Monument where we be volunteering at the Visitor's Center starting 1 July.
