After reading the many posts on this forum it is obvious that RVing in the US is very similar to that in Australia....we too head away from the coldness in winter, the difference is that here we go north!...My wife and I are currently on a 6000 km winter trip to North Queensland....you might like to follow us...our website is far from being professional but it might be of interest...especially if. like many of your countrymen, you are thinking of visiting.

Paul; welcome to JOF. Yes it would be interesting watching your journey. Is boon-docking a good options in Australia?

ALJO...I might need to define 'boon-docking' first....to us the word boondocks relates to being out in the bush, away from any towns, away from caravan (travel trailer) parks etc....if this is what you mean then yes...here we call it free camping and it is very popular....in fact most caravans made in Australia these days are equipped with solar panels, dual batteries, dual water tanks, showers, toilets and everything needed to be 'self sufficient'...there are many free camps around Australia.

Qantas is a great airline... lol yes our boon-docking is almost like your being out in the Bush... like I said in a previous post. I don't think we have a camper or tv capable of making a trip out in the Bush and back. Of course with expensive modifications anything can happen. With turbos and emission regs on our tvs. Your dust in the Bush will win out very quickly. Haha. A lot of your daily drive cars have snorkel set ups to help with the dust. We use them for deep water crossing. You guys use them for the dust. Lol

That's interesting... there is a Toyota commercial, currently running on TV, shot in semi-desert terrain, and I couldn't figure out why one of the tucks had a snorkel, in a desert... now I know, thank you!
