Campgrounds in Arizona, New Mexico?

We are heading south from Oregon soon and would appreciate some suggestions for reasonably priced RV campgrounds where we could stay a week or two--don't want to stay in the same place for 6 weeks. We are not interested in the RV resorts which have all the bells and whistles. We mainly want a clean campground, with clean showers and restrooms, and which has WIFI, and is not too far from a town. One of our stops will be Tucson, so would appreciate any suggestions for that area, especially. Thank you in advance!

I use rvparkreview to find sites. Most of the time they are accurate, even a little negative.

I liked the KOA in Albuquerque and we are at Hacienda in Las Cruces now (our main base now). Not cheap but are reasonable at the monthly rates.

Tucson has quite a few, ranging from pretty bad to really stuffy and expensive. You could also try Benson or Wilcox. AZ is snowbird country so sites are at a premium right now. NM does not have as high a quota of snowbirds so might be easier to find reasonable spaces and rates.

If you go into NM then also look at Deming and Silver City, depending on if you can stand smalller communities.

Yes, SW is home. Grew up in Phx, lived in NM for 30 years.

We stay twice a year at the Santa Fe KOA. We've been staying here for 25 years. It's a small campground outside of town in the pinion pines, which is really nice, but it's only 10 miles from the Plaza. It's about $40 a night, is beautifully maintained but simple (no pool). Their bathrooms are spotless. Their wifi and cell coverage is not good, so this may kill it for you - you have to go to a hot spot.

If your looking for warm weather you would need to look at the lower elevations in either state. At this time of year, many places are full of snow birds so be sure to make reservations. The KOA in Tucson is nice and in town.

If I was you I would avoid California. A couple weeks ago we were in Needles and the regular gas was $3.79, two miles away in Arizona the same gas was $2.17.. I would avoid Kalifornia for other reasons, but the price of fuel is enough.

Here in Phoenix the forecast for the next 10 days is in the low 70's...actually 76 tomorrow

We were fond of Gilbert Ray Campground just outside Tucson as it is incredibly scenic yet convenient to several attractions including the Desert Museum and some good restaurants.
However no showers nor water to each site..Does have water stations. No wifi either.

Its run by Pima County and does not take reservations. Its $20 a night.

Quite beautiful skies and the saguaros were in bloom when we were there in April

We camped at the Santa Fe KOA outside that city and its in a valley. No wifi. Very helpful staff.. no frills campground with well spaced sites in a pinon pine grove

Lots of campgrounds in the Colorado River valley and the temps are the best.
