First time snow birding.

We are getting ready to pull out and head to Florida as snow birds for the first time. Excited? Yep. Nervous? Yep. We have our route planned and have reservations to get us thru the end of March.

Is there anything we need to plan for? or any necessary items we should bring?

I’m sure we are over thinking this new adventure. But I thought maybe some veteran snow birders may have some pointers.

Our only apprehension was if medical issues arose, so be sure your insurance is not "area" specific, otherwise if something would happen and you hope it doesn't, it could cost you a bunch. We made sure we had a plan that covered us any where in the country.

Where are you headed? There may be some pointers available based on where you're going from others.

Where will you be staying?

First 6 weeks we will be in the panhandle of Florida in Navarre. Then we head south to Brooksville Florida for 4 months. It’s close enough to the gulf to fish and the occasional beach day. We wanted to be a little further south but had a hard time getting into a RV park.

We plan to explore while we are in the area for next year. Would love to be south of Sarasota.

We go down every year from January to March and head back in April. We stay at a place called Travelers rest in Dade city which is about 15 minutes from Brooksville. We do all of our shopping in Brooksville and most of the restaurants are there too. At which park will you be staying. If you have any questions about the area please feel free to ask. Also if you play golf there are a lot of courses in the area.

We will be at Belle Parc. We stopped by there in early February to scope it out and get our name on the list. We were bouncing around (not camping) to different parks. We never realized how difficult it is to get in to places. We didn’t venture into Brooksville but did go over to Spring Hill which is close.

Not a golfer yet. But love fishing. We will be looking for local bars/restaurants that may have bands or local music venues. The wife wants to go kayaking. I’ve spent a lot of time as a kid with my grandfather fishing in the Ocala area. I don’t think she realizes how much fun it will be dodging gators.

Hi...would you mind telling me what routes you are taking.? This will be our first time..live in ma and our first stop is in tampa

Don’t know how new you are to this but when traveling i always keep my Dopp Kit in the car ( medicine, toiletries, the 3 rd spare key set, extra pair of glasses). If we ever have to leave the trailer by the side of the road these are my most important items for at least a few days.

A outside comfortable reclining chair and that little table to hold your umbrella drink !!

This was a big help. We are going to Florida January 15 2021. We booked Disney Florida for the campground with a golf cart. Then we go down the west cost to the keys. Then we head back sometime in April. We may stop at Georgia and the just stop for a few days set up according to weather.
We are packing now.
