Full time mostly stationary

Hi folks,
Here in Fl, we recently got hit by 3 hurricanes, most notably Milton was a direct hit for me. We have reasons we want to stay in Florida, and we are retired, just the 2 of us.

We are not nomads, and are thinking about a big Class A or C and live in it at a nice park full time. An occasional trip, but not roaming the country. The reason? Well, I think we are soon going to be required to buy very expensive flood insurance, on top of already expensive, and ever increasing homeowners insurance. And while we have never left for a hurricane, it's seems nice that we could undock and get the whole house out of Dodge if we wanted to with an upcoming storm.

We had a nice trailer for a while, so RVing isn't completely new to me. I don't have a tow vehicle any longer, and really would prefer to not buy another.

One thing that gives me pause it that RV appliances don't look to be built for the long haul. I'm afraid I'd be having a repair guy in once a week after a year or two.

As with my trailer, I'd lean towards a late model, low mileage used unit that has already made all of it's return visits for all the stupid stuff they missed at the factory.

So, what are some positive and negative thoughts about my idea?

Thanks... Steve
