Future Plans

The DW will retire at the end of this year, so we plan on starting the snowbird adventure into FLA sometime in January, and stay until early April. I'm hoping we will find a break in the January weather to get away safely. We were down there last October as a trial run, and this convinced us to jump in.

If it were me I would make another run down there this October and leave it there over the winter. You can find storege from N Carolina to Florida for less than $100 a month and not have to chance the drive in the middle of winter.

Well, that would be something to consider. In this area, some head south during the first week of Nov, some right after Xmas around New Years, some look for a weather break during January. I notice TT deliveries going by here during the winter months, and no question, there is more risk then.

Check with camping world down that way and see if you can use one of their locations for storege. The one near me has spots for storege only, not many maybe 20-30.

Okay
On the weather topic, right now the snow in our yard (which has settled and compacted a bit) is at knee depth, and is typical here. As long as there is no snow on the ground in FLA it would be an improvement. We have been watching and the last 2 months the weather in central FLA seems to have been like what we get here in mid to late Sept. Of course farther south is a bit warmer. I have to say, it's darn challenging to get a spot in the Keys in Jan.

Thanks Seann
Yes, we are aware of that, and is why the plans a starting to happen now.
State Parks book 11 months ahead,
private parks generally become available sometime in March for the following winter.
Some spots are not nearly as critical, less popular.

I retire is less than 4 years. We are planning on moving south from New York, but we will be heading north in the summers to upstate New York with the TT and truck ... would we be called Summer Birds?
