Getting ready to move South

WOW, it is hard to believe that August is nearly over. In less than a month we will start moving South. We plan to arrive in Parker Az on Oct 1st. The early camper gets the best spot.

I must be doing this wrong. In 29 more days I will be moving north for the winter. Only to central Alabama, so it isn't too cold however.

This week we have been getting the house ready to close up for the winter. Oil tank is full, water paid for 6 months, gutters clean, mowers serviced. Have a small amount of paint to spread and then close up the upstairs. All the river lot things have been moved to the shop in town and plastic totes are piled up waiting for the trailer. According to the boss the trailer will be in the driveway tomorrow as she wants to shampoo the carpets. Only 7 days and we will start moving South.

Yep... Time for those going south to be ready.

The wife will be retiring in early December and we plan on being somewhere in southern Arizona for Christmas. A good problem is we don't know where.

We will probably stay out until mid-March and then return to Reno and get ready to fly to Green Bay for my oldest daughter's wedding in mid April. After the wedding we return to Reno and then will head to the California coast and then north to Oregon for starters.

After Oregon we have no schedule just the way we like it.

Lee, the river lot is empty for the winter so it's all yours. Don't forget to bring your snowplow

Well the trailer is now in the driveway and we are getting things ready. We just realized that we need to eat everything in the refrigerator in the house. It seems the one in the trailer is a little bit smaller. Knowing my wife we will probably be leaving as soon as the trailer is ready.

Larry G, all the Colorado river area and all across the Southern end of the state is warm. Bullhead City is windy and Yuma can be dusty at times. When you find the right place for you you will know it. We found a small town on the river and it just felt comfortable to us so that is where we stay. Not having a schedule is a good way to go. Our only schedule is to be in Parker on Oct 1st and to return home to Idaho sometime in May or June.

Larry G, we stay at the Blue Water campground near the casino in Parker Az. We are not real sure which spot we will be in as the lady in the office said she had some cancellations and we could have one of those spots if we want. We like a small town like Parker. Havasu and Yuma are much bigger and have a lot of traffic.

Thanks Clutch.

Planning, not use to this planning stuff, on being at Black Rock in Salome on December 20th for Christmas...probably for a couple of weeks before heading East to the Phoenix Tucson areas. Black Rock is not to far from Parker and maybe we could get together. Been 'talking' to Parcany and maybe he will be in the area also.

Have a safe trip on your way down.

I would be willing to give up a ATV riding day for a Jayco lunch or dinner. When the end of the year is close we need to set up a day and time.

We finally have a place with WIFI. We are in Williams Az in the Railside RV Ranch. No problems getting here and the fuel average was better than usual. 11mpg over all.

Sounds like you're almost there!

We stayed in Williams a year ago July with our older granddaughters. It was pretty windy the first day we were there... we transfered those little 32" blow-up swim innertube thingys from the bunks to the back of the truck and headed in for dinner. While eating dinner inside, one tube flew out the truckbed and starting rolling down the pavement. We all ran out, fired up the truck and trailed after it (we had a long day on the road and enjoyed the opportunity to chase something LOL). That thing rolled about 3/4 of mile before it came to rest at an isolated fence. What's funny is that a total of about three cars and five people were trying to catch it! LOL

Anyhow, glad you made it this far ok. Enjoy the rest of your 'vacation' on the way to Parker
