Grey Nomading-Down Under.
Hi, as an Australian and a regular reader of this forum I often have to 'translate' some of your meanings.....for example; what you call 'Snow-birders' appears to be the same as our 'Grey Nomads', generally retired folk, happy to tour anywhere and everywhere in their RV.
Your 'Boondocking' seems to be another name for our 'Free Camping', that is to camp in a no, or low cost remote location and to be self contained with our solar panels and onboard amenities etc.
Caravans, (travel trailers) of the type towed behind, most commonly a 4X4 pickup, usually somewhere around 16' to 25' in length and motor-homes are more common than fifth wheelers on our roads...our diesel is currently around $1.60 per litre.
From reading forum comments I find that our caravan parks are very similar to your trailer or RV parks....the average cost for a site in a caravan park down here is somewhere around $30 to $40 per night, along the coast is generally more expensive and the cost can leap during holiday periods.
Most caravan park sites will include a power connection, always 15 amp, 240vac, a mains pressure water connection and a grey water disposal connection, called sullage...these days most caravan parks will have a 'dump point', as most caravans and motor-homes have a removable toilet cassette.
Any of you guys thinking of visiting us will find that Australia is perfectly suited to RV'ing...we are an almost perfectly flat country, we don't have a single 'mountain' in your sense. We have a sealed road for the full circumference, a distance of 14'500 km.
Thanks for interesting stories.
