Legally Homeless?

If I am filling out legal documents, would I be considered homeless? I have a CT driver's license, CT vehicle insurance, and I am using a family member's house in MA as a mailing address. (I am starting my fulltime adventure in less then 12 hours.) (I am also unemployed)

You have your RV so you can't be homeless.

The US Census Bureau thought my inlaws, full timers, without a S&B home were to be listed as 'mobilely affluent street people'. I guess that was better than being a 'bum'.

We are not "Homeless" although we have been fulltime for 2 1/2 years now.
Our Home is where we Park it !!!
Our legal address is our Daughter and SIL's address.
For the people (and government official's) that do not understand the fulltime life style we just tell them we live with our Daughter rather than explain our lifestyle.

My legal address is a vacant lot right now since I'm not on it. I think there are some tire tracks still there unless recent rail erased them.

I don't know all of the details but I do remember a buddy telling me about a service that is out there that provides full timers with a legal "home" address for all government documents. Somehow they'll receive all mailed correspondence and can forward to any PO box you choose. He told me about it a few years ago when he was planning on going full time so I'll have to track him down and find out more details.

There are a few such services - generally referred to as "mail forwarding services". One such service is called America's Mailbox, out of South Dakota. I'm considering using it to set up residency and provide mail forwarding service when I go full-time (as soon as my house sells). Has any member used this service? Your feed-back would be greatly appreciated!

In WA state, it's actually illegal to use someones address as a "home" address if you don't actually live there. (even though I'm doing it myself- HAHAHA!) It's probably technically illegal in most states.

The reason, I think, is that people try to take advantage of a state's tax/vehicle registration/etc. costs while living in another state. However, I'm living in WA, and paying taxes here, but it's just easier to get mail at a "real" house address.

I'm staying (semi)permantly in an RV park now, and even have a mail box here, so I'll probably set my mail delivery up here now. Might even get my driver's license address changed to my RV park address.

We have been fulltime for almost 3 years and love the life style. Check out Escapees RV Club for mail service and many other support services including a network of RV parks across the country. Based in Livingston, TX and the state is very rv friendly. You can get a mailing address from Escapees and TX recognizes it as legal for a domicile--got drivers license, registration, insurance with just the mailing address. It works very well for us. www. escapees.com .

Yep, use escapees (or similar) services. They know all the legal issues of RV living and can fix it for you. And, yes, many states basically do not allow you to be 'homeless'.

FYI, escapees was founded by a lawyer for this very reason.

And, no we are not 'homeless' although it feels like it sometimes, especially when we don't have to make a mortgage or property tax payment

My wife and I are starting a new chapter in our lives...we are becoming homeless at the end of May. We sold our home and will be living in the camper while we build a new home. I am kind of excited to do this! For us, we are just using the postal service to forward our mail to a PO Box and will have to have anything shipped to a friends address. Talked to the DMV office and they suggested leaving our current street address until we have a new one.

What address is on your driving licence?
Where do you file your taxes from?

My drivers' license and address where I filed my taxes from is the house I am selling.
