Monthly Duty - Generator
I am now running on generator power for my monthly one hour run under load. It is also time for an oil/filter change which I will do at the end of the hour. Hopefully the sun will be up a bit higher and it will be warmer than 38 degrees when I'm out changing the oil/filter.
Some may see this as a chore, but it doesn't take much effort to turn off the shore power and fire up the generator for an hour and when I need the generator, it is always ready with never a single burp. And, yes I did let the generator warm up before putting the load on it.
Now where is that next cup of coffee?

That`s really a good policy with most power equipment these days, especially since the powers that be in their infinite wisdom invented ethanol. I also run my genny`s regularly. I think its about time again, now that you mention it!

I started a regimen of running my Honda 2000i to power my weed eater once or twice a month. This is just enough to exercise it. Yesterday, it ran kinda rough for a few minutes before smoothing out and always does well.

My generator (ETQ 3500) owners manual states to run it at least 20 mins. every 14 days. I guess they all say something different.

I have a couple of gas stations in my area that have no ethanol gas. I use it all the time. I also put stabilizer in the fuel so it won't get old between fillups.

I put stablizer in every tank of generator gas I buy, before I put it in the gen. fuel tank.

When I returned home from Colorado in August I prepped my Honda for long term storage. I changed the oil, cleaned the air filters and ran all the gas out of my EU2000i. Then I pulled the sparkplug and poured a bit of new engine oil into the cylinder. After cranking it slowly a few times to disperse the oil I replaced the plug.
Now all I have to do is fill 'er up with gas and start it when I make it down to Texas next week. Yippee, goin' back to Texas! It snowed here in Kansas tonight. Definitely time to move south.

I have several generators....I got a pair of the cheap china generators for me and my father in law for simple power outages. I run mine every month and it starts every pull for the last 5 years. My FIL on the other hand -- I can't get him to do it regularly. I just got done tearing apart the carb and needle valve which was full of gunk. Makes a huge difference exercising.

We have a 19 year old Honda 650 watt gen. I run it dry and put it away every winter. In the spring it always starts up on the last pull of the rope. This year we traveled South without it but next year it will ride on the cargo rack at the rear of the trailer.
