Southern Illinois to Ft. Myers/Pine Island Florida

We're leaving on Jan. 24 early in the morning and staying for 2 weeks.

Going down 24 to Nashville, will need gas somewhere past there. I think I get on I75 around Chattanooga.

Then gas at Atlanta or sooner.

Then planning on spending the night at Valdosta. Possibly at the Camping World campground. And gas.

Get up the next morning. Gas at Tampa. Then hopefully pull in to Pine Island in the afternoon of the 25th, I can't check in until after 1 pm.

I'm thinking I need to leave real early as my progress may be less than I think, 665 miles to Valdosta. Anyone know about traffic problems getting through Nashville or Atlanta?

Nashville and Atlanta? Just all the time. Plan your travel to avoid those during commute times.

Like Norty says, don't know if there's ever a GOOD time to navigate Atlanta, but definitely avoid am/pm rush. Outside of rush, I like I-285 around west side of Atlanta. Leaves I-75 well north of downtown, and rejoins 75 south of the airport. Busy, but steady progress barring wrecks, weather issues........

As others have posted, Nashville is hit or miss as well as Chattanooga. ATLANTA IS A TRAIN WRECK! 20 out of 24 hours, 7 days a week, it's a mess and it doesn't matter which way you go. I-285w will put an additional 30 miles to your trip so you might as well go straight thru town on I-75. Best bet is between 1am and 5am anyway you go.

I'm from northern Illinois.
I'd take 65 south out of Nashville down to west Florida. I hate making the steep drive out of Chattanooga to Atlanta in a car much less with a camper or motorhome. The trip is longer but I'd sleep better.
