The Key Bridge the in Maryland
We'll be leaving for Florida right after Christmas. Last year when we went over the Key Bridge I stayed in the right lane and it scared the hell out of me. Has anyone gone over the bridge and stayed in the left lane. I may have to do it even if I get a ticket.

I have not towed across the Key Bridge in the left lane. I have only done it in the right lane. I have towed a few times through the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel in the left lane with no issues. I did that because, with it being dark in there, it was easier for me to judge how close I was to the wall by having it right next to me and not the passenger side. I don't remember any signs at either place saying I couldn't be in the left lane.

It's illegal to go through either of the tunnels in Baltimore, irregardless of the lane.
Just as it's illegal to go through the tunnels in NYC and Boston, among other places in the north east.
It's legal to go through any under water tunnel in Virginia, as long as the propane is turned off.

This is true but it happens on a normal basis. I travel 95 every day to work and use the tunnel and see it constantly. AND for some reason, there is ALWAYS someone stalled in one of the tubes! How the H*ll does this happen? As long as 95 is and people stall in the 1.5 mile stretch of the tunnel! C'mon maaaan!
Living here in Baltimore, I've traveled the bridge more times than I can count. I read recently that it was among some of the scariest bridges in the country. It can be a little hairy at times but, I wouldn't say it's scary. Concentrate on the road and the vehicles around you and you'll be fine. People usually wig out on the bridge because they constantly look out over the water. The winds can be tricky. I tow my 328 across it on a normal basis and the winds are certainly a force to be reckoned with. You can most definitely get off course if you're not paying attention. I believe there is a small business here that offers to drive clients cars across the bridge or through the tunnels for a fee. I guess growing up here, I'm used to it. But I can also see others points on it's reputation.

If you're concerned about the bridge, couldn't you just take 695 the other way around Baltimore?

I see your point but I prefer the right lane so I can have a better view of the traffic along my left side. The distracted drivers / passenger car traffic flying by me more dangerous to me than the wall... .

Yeah. You can go to the West side of the beltway but it's a lot longer.

Just in case someone is doing a search and comes across this original thread.
The way it read, one might think it was OK to go through the Baltimore tunnels with propane aboard.
