New Tow Vehicle. Finally!

Since the trailer is a 'behemoth' we named it Fiona.

What kinda freeway mileage are you getting between 62 and 65 mph?Bet the price you paid was a lot better than a new 3/4 or 1 ton pickup! Thanks

Way better price. Dunno yet on the mileage, haven't run enough fuel through to calculate yet. It did cruise quite happy at 70 down I5. Based on other F800's I expect better than 10 when empty.

Light weight is not much more than a full 1ton RAM dually crew cab all the bells and whistles. Swap out my steel wheels for some alloys and we'll be close.

It's a very de-tuned 5.9 so we'll start carefully and safely dialing it in for towing.

Good golly miss molly! Why mess around, right? That looks quite capable.

Enjoy!

Very nice find. That truck had lots of potential.

What year is it? Is it a common rail or VP-44 pump?

Well, that's different

I don't think I'd want to use it for around town when I'm travelling though and I wouldn't be able to offroad it.

The dimensions are the same as most full sized DRW 1 tons (some a little bigger, some a little smaller), it has a tighter turning radius than most, and visibility is great. Speed bumps are a bit rough but eventually the whole rear suspension will get bagged anyway.

VP44 pump.

Order of operations will be:
Full gauge cluster
FASS or Air Dog style lift pump
replace the injection pump
bigger (cooler) turbo
bigger injectors
mild tune.

OK, made a trip to Fife this weekend.
65 - 70 on I5 and then stop n go around Fife = 14 mpg.
I can live with that. With some tuning and alloy wheels and etc 15 should be reasonable.

Gonna need new tires though, was able to drift it around some damp corners.

Batteries

Installed the battery bank yesterday. 6x 6v Costco Interstates. There's enough room for 8x but I'll have to come up with better strapping and adjust some cabling.
