trial run

Wife and I are planning on taking a trip to Central/Southern Florida the week of Thanksgiving. We won't be taking the rv this time, just looking at some of the campgrounds and planning for the future. Which areas and campgrounds do you like the best? We spent some time in the Lake Placid area a few years ago and really liked the area. Just looking and planning for a long trip soon.

thanks

We now winter in Venice, FL at a place we bought. There are several campgrounds near there and both north and south of there. All along there are great beaches and a lot of friendly, pleasant small towns with things to do and see. State parks have fallen prey to campers who book them up a year in advance so be sure you check to see if there will be availability or learn how the booking deal works.

If you are in to the arts Sarasota has great opera, symphony, plays and painting/sculpture type art events and places. Venice has a great small theater with locals doing plays all season.

Bicycling trails abound.

A lot further north than what you are considering, but we have been frequenting St. Augustine. The history there is just amazing. If you haven't visited there in the past, please spend a few days there. Absolutely worth it.
