Anyone experiencing problems with Reserve America?

I have been trying for weeks to get some reservations in for a couple of NYS parks. Initially, the booking window was around 1/3. So I went in, found no availability for a random week in August (which I thought was odd). Checked the booking window, it had been changed to something like 1/8. And so on. It's like chasing a carrot! I don't know what's going on with their system - I just really want to get my site! I emailed them to see what's up. This is with a couple of different parks. Has anyone else noticed this?

I don't currently have a problem as I have not used them for some time. However I do find their site very frustrating and difficult to use. The site descriptions seldom give the necessary information accurately ie lot size etc. The State of NY really needs to run their own system of reservations. Just MHO. Sorry I know you didn't ask for an opinion.

No problems here, I suggest calling to make the reservation.

I just used them for first week in July, with no problems. I know they do have a 6 month cap for reservations. You mentioned checking for August date. Could that of been the problem? We will have reservations for August also, but can't book until February.

No problem with Reserve America (RA) for last year's reservation at Four Mile Creek SP. I would call and talk to a representative from the NYSP system (maybe you already have) and find out what's going on. Reservations windows might not be the same for each park. The window for reservations at Four Mile Creek was 9 months, and the lake front sites go within minutes of opening. I would think as a contractor RA can only do what NY is requesting from them.

I commended NY for its determination to be fair. The rep I talked to said they didn't open until 9 am so the people that didn't have computers would have an equal chance.

So, I'm okay with NY as far as travel and camping go, but I'll probably never be a Yankees fan.

Yes.. had a problem last year. The gave away my reservation, it may have been a mix up by the camp host. It was a real pain as it was 4th of July weekend. Also I did not get a refund for the reservation fees.

Reserve America lets us reserve 1 year in advance in Nebraska. That makes it really hard to book any holiday weekend. If you try to reserve something on a busy weekend it always tells you it is full even if you are online at the exact minute it allows a reservation 1 year in advance. I get really frustrated with this system when you drive thru a fully reserved campground and here are 10 sites that people didn't show up for or bother to cancel. I wish Nebraska would opt out & go back to the old system.

There are only two state parks here on Long Island and they use Reserve America. Both of these parks are open to reservations 9 months in advance.

One of the parks is not in high demand so you can pretty much get a full hookup any time you want, even if you just show up. The only exception would be holiday bookings.

The other park literally sells out the second it opens.

I have no gripes with the system at all so far.

Yes. I have booked on line when the window opens at 10 am and right away everything is booked! I have lucked out a few times in the off season and sometimes when I book over the phone. We can only book 6 month before the date here at MA state parks, but I feel some people have a way of booking sooner. The sites go fast.

Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to score some great concert tickets and 2 minutes after the box office opens, they're sold out! Hoping I chose some less popular SP's for our big trip in August (UP-Michigan) than I did for last years trip. So far, have scored sites at a popular SP for Memorial weekend and July 4th week.

Isn't RA owned by or at least associated with Ticketmaster? Explains the concert "feel".
