Big Bend TX. Stillwell RV

It was odd but I may have figured out what was happening. We booked at Stillwell two or three weeks ago and out of forty or so water and electric sites only about six or seven were available through their on line reservation system Rover. When we arrived on Saturday at 2:00 pm we were the only ones there. Eventually three more units joined us.

Their full hook up area with about twenty sites showed fully booked but less that half were ever occupied.

After talking with the other folks they all reported the same experience. My guess is Stillwell gives Rover X number of sites for on line as part of their fee and if you call the campground direct there is more availability.

By the way, it is open desert camping, so no shade or privacy between sites. We were happy and will continue to stay there. The RV campgrounds in Terlingua, at the western entrance to the park, all looked full.
