Black Hills

Planning a trip to the Black Hills next summer, we have been out there once and stayed at Palmer Gulch/Hill City KOA and really liked the place. Just want to get opinions on other campgrounds/RV parks in the area. We are going with some friends that don't have a camper so they need to have a cabin/Camper Cabin or hotel attached.

Wife and I stayed at the Rafter J Campground in Hill City, last year. Very nice, with plenty of room between sites and capable of handling any size Rv. Campground is laid out very well, with plenty admenities and centrally located.

I’ll second this place. A little spendy, but worth it. Felt like a camping experience still. The view from our site.

+1 for Rafter J Bar Ranch. We stayed there as "base camp" for all our Black Hills adventures, and it was a really nice place to stay. I agree it's a little spendy, but really it's not too bad. My son loved playing on the playground, and the little camp store has some basics (beer, ice, simple groceries, etc) and some "souvenirs".

Lots of options;

We really like to stay at Stockade Lake South Campground within Custer State Park. They have Camper Cabins with heat and AC. Electric only RV sites, we had lots of room around us. I thought we had water at our site too ???, but it is listed as an electric only sites. Dump station onsite. I thought it was a nice centralized location to almost everything in the area. Many evenings we would take off and do the parks wild life loop.

We stayed here, Welikit campground South Dakota, in Custer it was a great location close to everything and they have rentals too. Full hookups. I will defiantly go back again.

Stayed at the roost resort. A little tight with a 30 foot TT but manageable. Great views & close to Custer State Park.
